    75 grain Swift Scirocco - 22-250

Just got a new toy.. Had to give it a whirl... Tikka 22-250 1:8 twist.. I ran a 75 grain Swift Scirocco into the jugs at an estimated velocity of 2950.. I found the bullet in the fourth jug and it weighed 62.9 grains. Thats 84% weight retention.. This was basically a few rounds I loaded to get...

    Sierra 225 Gameking Vs Pig

I think they are a great bullet.. Just cant help goofing around with something new... Partitions have accounted for 3 of the 4 biggest deer I have ever taken. Odd man out was taken with an accubond. I am thinking less penetration will transfer more energy. My targets are not very big.

    64 BSB Vs. Boar hog

They are a short enough bullet that they seem to stabilize fine from a factory 1:14 also. fast twist not required.

    Sierra 225 Gameking Vs Pig

Stopped off at a buddies to see if we could shoot a couple pigs coming to his feeder. He took a boar hog with his 22-250 and I shot a sow with my Whelen and a 225 Sierra Gameking. My Whelen is a little finicky but really shoots the sierras well. I have jug tested them and they look better than...

    64 BSB Vs. Boar hog

I've been loading the 64 grain bonded solid base for a friend of mine to shoot in his 22-250 for a few years now. He has been telling me that they kill like lightning but I had not had the opportunity to witness it personally. Monday Eve I stopped by, Whelen in hand, to go see for myself. He has...

    35 Whelen

Scotty is the guilty party for me owning a 35 Whelen. I have always been a fast and flat cartridge shooter. I have had it now for about 5 years and it has turned into my goto rifle. I'm in a club/lease with several others and it seems every year someone has that story... I knocked him down and...

    162 Amax - 7RM Vs. Coyote

I got a little real world experience with the amax this year. After not getting a passthru on the coyote I shot I was very nervous about using them. Unfortunately, they were all I brought for my longer range rig this year. I took one for a test run on a doe early in the season. I shot her just...

7 Rem Mag 140 PT Vs. 140 AB

I shot a 140 AB and 140 PT both into jugs today for a comparison. Both pushed by 69 grains or RL-22. This yields about 3100fps in my rifle. The AB was found in the fifth jug, the PT in the 6th. The AB weighed 93.2 after and the PT 99.3grains This equates to 66.6 and 71% retained weight. The AB...

    2015 Hunting Pictures

thanks Dr. Mike. No vivid story on this one.. He made the mistake of stepping into the edge of a cotton field the next afternoon. I wasn't having a warm fuzzy about the 162 AMAX in my 7RM but it piled him up in place. Shot was 352 yards.

superformance 117 SST Vs. Whitetails buck

I didn't think he could do it Dr. Mike. I was wrong. He left us in SC and went to his family's place in Ohio and smoked this monster with a bow.. He released the arrow, it clipped a limb and deflected up, passed thru the deers neck, cutting his juglar. I told him to let someone else hold the...
