Spent some range time this morning. I had not shot the Tikka 35 Whelen for a couple years, forgot how well it shot. 225gr Partitions behind a load of RL-15 and accuracy was as expected from a Tikka (even though it was reviews by JES). The Tikka will be making the trip.

My sons shoots the 7mm-08 well and is comfortable with it. Shoot better than I did when I was 11. Gave him a CZ 22LR bolt action earlier. Only gave him a single feed mag and iron sights for a some time. He hopefully learned to shoot not spray for squirrels.

I loaded up some 120gr BT for my son's 7mm-08. Using the 60% load of H4835 was able to find a nice load for the rifle. We did a youth sheep hunt this weekend sponsored by Safari Club International. The 120 BT smacked down his sheep with a heart/lung shot and broke the far shoulder exiting...

Is this thr 80 gr BT varmint? Would you use it at reduced velocity (2400 FPS from the barrel) for youth loads on deer sized animals? Or upgrade to a 85 gr PT?

Was looking at the bushnell scopes. The range has a silhouette area specific for 22 LR. Would be a fun way to spend the evening.
