Hey guys, so I'm having a problem with my ar and its driving me nuts. Its been something that has been happening pretty much since I unboxed it. Stupid me didn't sent it back and say fix it. Not sure if they will at this point. Anyhow, its a palmetto state arms basic ar10. No upgrades as far as...
I wouldn't bother with anything chambered in 5.56. Generally most ammo available and brass if youre a reloader are going to be 223. Mil standard is just basic firearms minimum the military requires. As a military member ehose fired the basic, order the gun the waynyou want it. Mil std or mil...
That's awesome! Truth be known, I borrowed my dad's rifled barrel to use on my maverick 88 to take this doe. How's that for funny?

Thank you! I'm a do it yourself kind of guy. In not so many words, I'm a cheapskate. I learn to do it on my own. Why pay someone my hard earned time for something I'm capable of. Next year, if I transfer, I hope to find somewhere I can hunt again and hopefully by bow! Gotta up the stakes!

I'm hoping to find some decent hunting land to finish out the season over the next couple months. Has anyone hunted some decent public land in central ohio, or know of some decent public land? I had a blast with my doe experience but am also looking to shoot my first buck too

I'll have to curb the idea of a new rifle until 1st least after Christmas. I only have a couple years left in ohio, not sure if my next home state will have the same requirements. We will see!

I could only DREAM of heading to Alaska. Getting stationed there would be amazing but I don't think my wife would approve!

Well, consensus says 357 is not practical for hunting here. Looks like that may just be a fun gun. 45 70 may be my next purchase. Thanks for the insight folks.

200 yards is probably a gross overstatement to what I could be hunting. Everything is brush here with a clearing with a maximum of 100 yards, 140 if it's huge. I don't know why, but I feel very partial to the 357 or 45 70. Hmm...

I would use my .308 if the law allowed a shouldered rifle cartridge. This year I settled for my 12 gauge slug gun. Next year I'd like a more reliable weapon.
Did you break scopes due to recoil?

What would your preferred straightwall cartridge be, and why?the most common I hear are:
45 70 govt
357 magnum
444
I'm looking for a rifle for next gun season, and don't know what my range could be. Probably 200 yards max. What are your thoughts?

Lol I'm betting she was a yearling. Once I got a good look at her after the fact, I felt kind of bad cause I knew she was young. Even so, she does look like a monster compared to the Florida dog sized deer

This is the first time I've had an opportunity to hunt in Ohio. I transferred here last year this time. Before that I had hunted in nw Florida a few years prior. This was a blessing to be able to hunt here this year
