Scotty, just bought the 6GT set from Hornady. Using the F/L die only for shoulder bump and using a 223 Lee Collet die to neck size. Haven’t had to run through shoulder bump yet, 3 firings.
We shortened the 223 collet, I forget how much without checking drawing but believe it was either .100 or...
Mike, thank you for QL projections! The IMR4831 is pretty close to what my actuals are. 35 grs which is mild pressure wise is running 3075 in my 27” Lilja 8 twt barrel. Adjusting 30 fps off the QL 28” barrel prediction is in that area. The case capacity is very similar to a 22-250 so makes...
Scotty, that d be much appreciated!! Could you run a std 22-250 with the following:
88 ELDM
2.620 oal
IMR 4831
R23
Could you run to 64K max pressure?
Appreciate it. Will be interesting to see how it compares to our load work ups to date!!
Frank
Scotty, agree with you. We ve got 4 of these rifles built (4 guys) and have found good loads and have in excess of 1000 rounds down range.
My hope was that it was in the QL calculator to see what it forecasted for pressure. Since it’s Alpha Brass produced for GAP and small primer, really hard...
I ve had good success with both R22 and IMR4831 in my 300. 75 grs of R22 is a proven load in many 300 s with a 180 gr bullet.
Somewhere around 72-73 grs of IMR4831 should do well also.
Start lower as these are both full power loads so you want to see what your gun likes and tolerates.
Could someone run a QL on a 22 GT ? Don’t know if brass capacity is available but I could measure some or find a web based estimate if needed.
Here’s basic info:
22 GT (necked down 6 GT)
Small rifle primer
2.520 OAL
88 gr Eldm
27” barrel
Would like to run for IMR4831 and R23. Go to 64000 psi...

Not the 150 LRAB but I m shooting a 147 Eldm in my 6.5-300 with 89 grs of US869. 3250 FPS.
Start 3-4 grs less and work up. That bonded bullet should be great in the 6.5-300. Post your results if you would.
I do the torch Mapp gas method also. I dim the lights so I can better watch the color on the case neck. When I start seeing the end of the neck turning a hue of red I stop. Usually takes a count of 3-5 ( roughly seconds) depending on size of brass, caliber and brand. I ve found 3-4 seconds is...
I ve had to make my brass out of 300 Weatherby stuff so can t really comment on rim thickness difference. But I would venture a guess that .010 difference between the thickness of 300 vs 6.5-300 brass sounds ‘wrong’ … maybe a bad batch of brass. Might hear from Scotty or Fotis shortly. If yours...
If you try R33 and do velocity and accuracy testing please share. I ve got some R33 but haven’t tried it…. Questioned if there was any room for improvement. Not sure I can shoot well enough to see!
