150grain accubond on pigs is outstanding out of a 270win. A 225accubond out of a 338wm absolutely punishes camels. 140accubond on fallow deer out of a 7mm08 is excellent. I would happily shoot accubonds in all my rifles if they proved to be the most accurate. As a hunting projectile I find them...
I do sometimes wonder with the small calibre bullets that are great for target shooting at longer range and then we seek a hunting bullet to do the same, whether we are asking more of these cartridges than we should 🤔
Maybe I am just getting old and the brain is losing its plasticity.
You can occasionally buy Alliant powder here in Australia, but you will have to part with a kidney to afford it. H4350 is kind of the standard in medium weight bullets for the 6.5’s that are not over bore.
103 eldx is a great bullet. Hornady are making some nice bullets right now. However they are not making bonded bullets and I do think that is a hole in their product line…just like I think Noslers 50bullet packs across its whole product line is annoying. Surely ballistic tips in all weights...
300wsm that is a great post and solid advice. I have a friend who is new to shooting and reloading and was instantly attracted to chasing velocity and almost appeared to take it as a challenge to beat book max speeds. It scared the hell out of me for him. Reloading is a very serious business and...
With 130 grain bullets I have found that H4831 whilst really accurate is pretty slow. It maybe better with 140 class bullets. H4350 has been better and still is very accurate. The old Swede is a much underrated cartridge just quietly going about its business.
I am running mine with a 26 inch tube. I figured if I didn’t like the length the gunsmith could always cut it down a bit. The rifle shoots so well I won’t interfere with its harmonics. Interestingly when ordering the barrel he asked if I wanted it fluted. I asked should I and his response was...
160 accubond would also be worth throwing into the mix. It is a super accurate bullet, far less finicky than the 168 you were asking about and none of those animals you listed will walk away from a well placed shot. I bought my 280ai as a do it all rifle and it has proven highly adept at being...
Have not used the 168ablr, but if you can’t get that to shoot, the 150nbt is a great bullet and h4350 is a really good match. I’ve never recovered a 150nbt, they have sailed on through leaving a path of destruction in its wake. 280ai is probably my all time favourite cartridge. Best of luck and...
Well the only solution is a new gun to cheer you up. Best of luck with the recovery. Just out of interest, how did you make it back to the car/camp? The thought of a broken leg whilst hunting ranks up there as one of the worst possible injuries, particularly if solo.
