    Scouting Reports

Spent the day scouting for deer and elk. Only saw a few deer but found about 40 elk, two small bulls. There were others I never identified but my gut says those were cows. It's a little over an hour from my house to the area I hunt, I'll get up there a few overnights so I can be in country for...

30-06 QL Help Please and any help from the stands would be great too.

I’ve had my 06 since I was 13, that’s something like 57years. I don’t hunt her much anymore but I always keep it ready and in all honesty I keep the magazine loaded with the rifle locked in the safe in case I need to make a shot across ours or the neighbors pasture. Some recent data; 63.6/180 AB...

    Dinosaurs and sheep

Good looking Blesbok. I’d take another one of those next year perhaps. I kinda like them. Ostrich was a tough old bird. You’re piling them up, are you staying until you run out of ammo:)

For Sale Winchester M70 7mm Remington Magnum

Lsbauctions.com if I recall correctly Roger. I periodically get emails from them showing a map of the country and their planned pickup routes they will be working. For our family and well over 100 guns it still took about 6 weeks to arrange a pickup. From Cody Wyoming to the Oregon coast I think...

For Sale Winchester M70 7mm Remington Magnum

Roger brings up the estate planning issue of what this group loves to do. I’ve noted on other feeds my experience with an Outfit called Lock Stock and Barrel out of Wyoming. They send qualified people across the country picking up estates, collections that kind of thing. When my BIL died last...

    16" vs 24" .308 Win Velocity...

I’ve the same problem. Years ago my brother came into the tent just after dark. After shaking snow on everyone he remarked he had cut my tracks about 3 miles out and crossed a ridge and came up a different canyon. Said he was glad he hadn’t followed me too far. He explained that in the foot of...

So Glad That I Tried Different Rifle Cartridges & Loads!

I always enjoy your ramblings and I always have at least two boxes of those same ballistic tips loaded for my 06. The Ar-15 resides in the master bedroom however if there is time or reason to open the safe in a hurry the 06 is the first rifle available, the Benelli right behind it. Behind those...

20 cartridges to rule them all

Great list, I love the 338 wm as well as 340b class cartidges. Really don’t understand how they never became popular. Actually I do, every 338 I’ve owned kicked more than my 375 HH. Regardless, I think 338 is nearly as perfect a round as the 375 HH.

Still there this morning, he is looking for new grazing. My guess is he gets on my side one way or another pretty soon.

    This day 1969

I remember laying in a meadow that night, Scoutmaster had brought a pair of Binoculars. We were taking turns tying to catch a reflection kind of thing. I remember one of the kids asking if they could still see earth during daylight so they could find there way home.

Not sure where you are but Catherine and I were camped last weekend above Index, along the Skykommish River. Saw a good looking bear at about mile six on our way out on Sunday. Index -Galena road.
