I have some 44 special Starline that I load from time to time using Hornady 240gr LSWCHP and either 6.5 gr Unique or ~8 gr of Blue Dot. Pushing up higher with either powder would be perfectly fine if you are shooting in a magnum cylinder, but the wife prefers the milder loads. I doubt very...
Yup, thanks, brother. I need to learn how to search better.

For the community - I have on my shelf some Nosler seconds, which I believe to be 30 cal 180gr ABs, does anyone know the minimum expansion velocity for those? I would be loading in 308 Win for a 20 inch barrel, and I'm trying to get an idea of maximum practical range for bullet performance...
Well, I suppose that at the end of the day, you can always break the seal. I know that's not your preference, but it may be the only way to find out once and for all.
Okay, there isn't much to go on with this can. 7 might be the factory where it was produced, or it might be the caliber, or the year of manufacture, or maybe none of those things. AE3, I think might actually be an A83. If, and I do mean IF, that is A83, then I suspect that it's a mark for the...
One of the things I find fascinating about this art is how much things can change from one load to the next and one rifle to the next. Keeps it interesting.
Not just in Florida, I see the fliers in my mailbox after every bad thunderstorm. Is it a scam? I don't think so, in the sense that everything they do is legal (assuming they aren't putting fraudulent information on the forms). My understanding is that it's more like they know how to work the...
Man, that hurts all the way from here. Whitetail is a fun hunt, and there are many opportunities.
I suppose if there is a silver lining, it's that eastern states have been quite successful in reintroduction of species. All of them are draw, as far as I know, and maybe some for residents only...
As I plan some upcoming hunts over the next few years, I've scratched WY off the list entirely. It's a shame, too, because I really like a lot of what Wyoming has to offer. But, it's also really hard in a number of other states for elk, deer, and bear - speaking as a non-resident, that is.
The only reason I could think to use the 85 is if for whatever reason, the 100 won't group in your rifle. Then, just be a bit more choosey about your shots.
I don't have anything I am planning on buying. That said, my eyes (and likely my wallet) will be open for one or more of the following, if I can find the right price:
454 Casull lever gun
45-70 lever gun (maybe)
30-30, but it would have to be an older Winchester 94, it's the only one I really...
Not trying to be rude, but if you want to hunt with that rifle/ scope combo, why not work at getting closer? Then you don't have to worry about where to hold.
Yes. I assume that companies will try and cross-level their finances by upping rates nation-wide to cover payouts in Cali. I also fully expect that they will run to DC and demand a bailout after explaining that they actually don't have the money to cover all the claims. And I don't doubt they...
Okay, all, once again, thank you for your suggestion and support, but I have some more specific questions -
I've started doing the initial planning, and if I could get some folks with local knowledge, I'd appreciate it. There will likely be 3 of us on this hunt, one of whom is 100% T&P from...
About... 8fps? ;)
Seriously, though, I'd be interested to see what you're getting for velocity. Is this a hunting load, or strictly target? I know nothing of it.
I do intend to try other ammo with it, but in my fantasy world, I'd like to have a load that I can carry in both my 44 mag revolver and my rifle. So, I do one hand load up, and carry it in both the rifle and the revolver at the same time. That way, I don't worry about what spare ammo goes with...
