Well, time is coming near. I have almost everything packed, food is ready, and I just shot out to 300 one more time to double check my rifle. This summer/fall I have been working out with P90x3 and feel like I'm in decent shape. We leave in a few days for the mountains and I will hope to post...
Nice shooting on some great deer. Not asking for your exact location but would you be willing to share what region or part of the state you hunted? How many points to draw?
Stay AWAY from the shoulder. One thing that I tell myself and my wife is to aim for the heart. If the deer drops to run, the arrow will still get lungs.
The NA slam is a dream but will never happen. I have created a few slams of my own here in WI. A single season slam of an antlered deer, tom turkey and a bear. I have done that one twice. I'm currently working on a gauge slam for turkey 12/16/20/28/410 all in Remington 870s. (I know I'm...
I'm looking for your best load in both 270wsm and 6.5-06. I'm doing my best to get these rifles up and running but they are being stubborn.
So far with the 270wsm, I have only tried 140 Partitions.
With the 6.5-06, I have tried 140 Hot Cors and 140 Btips, and 130 AccuBonds. So far the 130...
I plan on bringing my 338wm with 225 Accubonds. As far as back up it is the 7mm or pump action 35 Whelen.
I will be in better shape than right now. I have not worked out in 6 weeks but I will start next week after turkey season ends.
Thanks for the info and keep it up.
I'm looking at shooting any bull and after the first 2 days, I will shoot any decent sized elk (no calf). As far as hunting, it will be me and my brother in law hunting on a general tag in WY. We plan on hunting the first week of the season as of right now...
Well, turkey season is coming to a close so now I can really focus on elk and prepping for my first time hunting them. Last night I talked to a guy who has hunted them for years and he said that hunting in the dark timber is a good way to get one. In my mind, I had it that the hunt would be a...
Well the state announced yesteday that after 22 years of working on our elk herd there will be a season. 10 tags total. 5 for the Native Americans/1 for the RMEF to raffle/4 for resident applicants. I'm going to put my name in the hat for $10 why not.
Look into BeachBody.com for workouts. $99 for a one year membership and you will not get bored with doing planks, pushups and treadmill. I did p90x3 from September-Christmas and lost 15 pounds. I'm in the middle of Shift Shop now. This summer, I plan on doing p90x3 again or one of the other...
I built an upper years ago. I used an 18" AA barrel. Mine did not like heavy bullets so I tried the 107 Sierras and they shoot great. I use 8208 and have had great groups. My speeds are not the greatest but hitting the gong at 300 is easy with this rifle.
Let me know if you have any...
Yep we have general tags. As of now, we plan on packing the meat/horns out on pack frames. We wil keep an eye out for big bears. I have hiked in bear country before so that helps the nerves.
Any and all info is appreciated. Thanks guys.
