I got an e-mail from Hornady indicating they may have a 6.5mm Interbond on the horizon. I thing the bonded bullets would perform well on game up to and including elk in the .260. Which would you choose in a perfect world if Nosler made the AB in this caliber?
The AB is great. I had a...
I loaded some .260 ammo last night. All I have so far for bullets are the Hornady 129 Interlocks. This is a soft point. Is it me or is the lead tip subject to deformity? Not during the manufacturing process but just normal handling.
Does the 125 Partions have less exposed tips?
todbartell,
Thanks for the information, I was not going to bother with the 140's based on what others were saying about them not stabilizing but will give them a try. But for what my daughter will be using the gun for (unless an elk tag comes her way), the 100 or 125 partions should work. I...
Nice pics!!!
Have you tried Varget?
I heard the 1/9 twist does not favor the heavy bullets. That is good news if it handles the 140's with reasonable accuracy.
I also hear that guys are dumping the j-lock and replacing the bolt shroud. What do you think about that?
Why do you think it will be a 110? I was hoping for something heavier for game larger than deer and antelope? I see folks taking elk with the .260 but want more insurance than what is out there now.
Well... I just got a .260 so I can't comment on either as I just got some of the Hornady 129's. I would lean to the 125 partitions for mulies. I will give them a try when I can find them. If they came out with the NAB in this, I would go that route. Since most remingtons have the 1/9 twist...
This past Monday I shot a Mulie at about 200 yds using a .300 WSM. The bullet entered the shoulder and exited behind the ribs. This was an angled shot and the bullet was not recovered. Penetration was not a problem here.... Upon opening him up, there were a bunch of organs that were just...
This is a new caliber to me. I just acquired a Remington Mountain rifle in the .260. The gun will be used for deer and antelope and my daughter who is 11 will be shooting it. I hear the recoil is not bad. Can anyone speak as to the rifle or loads for the caliber?
Ron,
Which hunt are you going on? I have Rhodes Canyon in Dec. Like you, I will be using a .300 WSM. I pondered 180 and 200 Accubonds and settled on 180s as they shot better. When I say better, not by much but the 180s were outstanding and figured I can use it for deer also.
