Ever had one of THOSE rifles?

Ha! Also frustrating is the rifle that will only shoot one combination well. When you find it you’re good. I have a 30-06 that just doesn’t like 180 grain bullets much. 155s fine. 165s good. 180s 2 MOA. Took me a while before I gave up on the 180s! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ever had one of THOSE rifles?

My 25-06 shoots really well with anything also. Not 1/2 inch at 200 good, but I’m not a 1/2 at 200 level shooter. The 25-06 makes it tough to pick a preferred powder, seating depth, bullet, etc. It just plain likes everything! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    30-06 and 150 accubonds

I tried Superformance once with the 30-06, I didn’t get nearly the groups you did! Nice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Crimp rifle loads, or not?

    Crimp rifle loads, or not?

Crimping won’t hurt accuracy, but I haven’t noticed increased accuracy or better velocity standard deviation either. It does leave a crimp at the brass at the top of the neck for future loading so I stopped crimping. What 30-06 and 25-06 loads are you trying? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Resizing 30 to 25-06 help

Some Mashburn brass that I form from 300 Win Mag has donuts, some not. I haven’t been able to figure out a way to predict yet! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    30-06 and 150 accubonds

My 30-06 loves as much IMR4350 in the case as possible under a 150-grain bullet. I’ve read you can’t get enough IMR4350 in a 30-06 case to have pressure problems. I’m short 59.5 grains IMR4350 CCI200 primer 150 grain bullet I’ve also tried 60 grains H4350 with the same bullets, it likes that...

    Resizing 30 to 25-06 help

I tried it. I don't have any cartridges for a non-magnum round between the 25-06 and 30-06, so no way to size the 30-06 down into 270 and then 25-06 or anything like that. Here's the piece of 30-06 After the 25-06 FL Sizer Tried to improve it by running it through a Lee Collet Die and...

    Resizing 30 to 25-06 help

Sounds like you figured it out! Any reason compelling for you is really all you need. If you run into any abnormal pressure signs I might suspect the brass necks first. Several of us here mess around with forming brass, and have seen weird stuff! If you need help identifying brass neck...

    Resizing 30 to 25-06 help

I have a couple 30-06s (and a bunch of 30-06 brass) and a 25-06, I’ll try to size one down and see how it goes. After spending time and effort making 7 Mashburn brass from 300 Win Mag, I wouldn’t personally make 25-06 brass from 30-06 unless I had a really compelling reason. You can get 25-06...

    14 reloading presses compared

Thanks for posting! I have a Lee Classic Cast and was looking at the more expensive presses in the review. Turns out none of them have better concentricity than the Lee (with full acknowledgement that process, brass, dies, etc. all have a huge impact potential on concentricity). But from just...

    Chronograph

I have used a Prochrono Digital and a Magnetospeed. I really like the Magnetospeed for use at a public range. No calling the line cold. Very accurate velocity data. What I don’t like about the Magnetospeed is that I can’t shoot groups with it hanging on the barrel. Some figure it out, I never...

    Question on 25-06 fire forming

As you are just fire forming the brass all you need to do is find a safe load with high enough pressure (I’ve read over 40K PSI) to make the brass expand sufficiently but low enough to not damage the brass. I think even if you are jamming the bullet into the lands you’d be fine at a starting...

How to find starting powder charge for unlisted powder?

I have used BT and AB data interchangeably for several years with no issues. I wouldn’t use E Tip and other bullets interchangeably due to the difference in construction of E Tips. Same with TTSXs, different construction. Let us know how it works out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

How to find starting powder charge for unlisted powder?

Ramshot lists starting loads on their website. http://www.ramshot.com/load-data/ For most 180-grain bullets the starting load with Hunter is about 51-54 grains. I have shot up to 60 grains of Hunter with 180s with no problems. I’ve noted some really good accuracy around 58 grains. Sent...

    Question on 25-06 fire forming

I have no problem fire forming 7 Mashburn cases with just a starting load of powder. Can you reach the lands with a bullet? Or otherwise make the round chamber with any kind of tight fit?
