So I think I am operating the lee collet die correctly, but -
If I run a case through my FL RCBS resizer, the OD of the neck is .281", then after I seat a bullet I'm at .283". The smallest OD I can get using the Lee Die is .283"...
If I'm understanding correctly, the RCBS is giving me .002"...
Thanks for all the great info. I like the idea of not overworking the brass.
I just picked up a spare decapping rod today because it was in stock and the lee collet die was not, but I have to try some of the other mentioned dies out in the near future. I did watch a bunch of videos on the lee...
Guys I just bent the internal decapping rod on my RCBS full length resizer somehow. I will have to buy a new decapping unit I guess but I thought in the meantime I had read alot of good things about the Lee Collet Neck sizer. It seems other people have issues with it. Any feedback? This is for...
Awesome thank you for doing that. I think what I'll do first is shoot a book load, an if I'm low on velocity on that too, I'm going to send my chrono into the manufacturer to get checked out. If I match, I'll run with your data.
I can't see any pressure signs on the case, and didn't notice a sticky bolt but should have paid attention better. I did notice the recoil was much more noticeable at 58 gr, but I was only wearing a t-shirt today, maybe that's why.
Group size was ok, but not really shooting for accuracy yet...
Thanks I'll try that.
I'm going off this QL data posted earlier in this thread. Maybe my results are so different because this suggests a case OAL of 3.25 and I'm at 3.166. Although you were getting some good numbers seated deep as well.
Scotty if I am reading it right, am slower, QL says I'd be at 3150 with ~55 grains which is where I'm at with 57.5. These are actually Barnes TTSXs not accubonds and I'm going off.of QL data posted earlier. I was hoping to be more like 3300.
I thought I'd seat them further out for more speed...
57.5 showed some promise but the velocities were lower than I was expecting. 57.5 was as far as I pushed it.
Using WW Brass, WLR primers, .10 off of lands.
I am ~ 3.166 for case overall length to be .100 of the lands. Barnes load data gives a COAL of 3.08 in their load data, which according to my measurements would put me .19 off the lands, does that seem odd?
I never feel real accurate with my Hornady OAL gauge. I did send my once fired brass...
Well I need to get a plan b load going for my Sep. antelope hunt since I can't find any RL 26.
I have Retumbo, H4350, RL19, 110 ABs, and 100gr TTSXs.
Options I was thinking about -
100gr TTSX and RL19 or H4350.
110 ABs and RL19 or Retumbo.
115 Nosler Ballistic Tips and Retumbo.
I'd have to...
Dragging up this old thread because I might actually be getting my hands on some RL26! Can anyone offer advice at a series of loads to try stepping up with? Something like 56gr, 57gr, 58gr? Thanks
I was just dinking around today because I wanted to get some once fired cases to make a modified case out of. I know 3 shots isn't a great sample, but what do you make of these chrono numbers?
100 gr. Nosler Partition
51 gr RL17
WLR primer
3.200" OAL
1. 2989 FPS
2. 3023 FPS
3. 3072 FPS
