My wife bought me a Chargemaster Lite for my birthday. I feel bad she spent so much money, but think I might have to keep it! Weighing powder is my least favorite part of reloading. I have not unboxed it yet - what do you guys think about it? Anyone have one?
Well I decided to try one and I am attempting to mount a scope on a rail myself. I've never done much of any gunsmith work myself before and may end up just taking this to my gunsmith on Monday but want to get this done.
The rail is firmly pushed onto a flat Tikka T3 receiver top, but no...
the only hesitation I have is the straight 3.5x10 scope that I'd return to get the Vortex hunting/tactical is the nicest scope I've ever (briefly) had and I got a smoking deal on it!
Well, I'd love to get sub moa past 300 yds, can't say I'd ever done that. This is for a deer/antelope hunting gun.
I got a good deal on a very nice 3.5x10 scope without parallax adjustment. I was thinking of returning it and trying out this scope with exposed turrets...
Thanks guys, it has been a great gun. I don't know Guy, yours look like they are in pretty amazing shape too. I may be putting this in the classifieds here next week with some goodies like the custom Hornady OAL case and some brass.
Please let me know if this isn't appropriate and I'll delete this post.
I am going to put my REM 700 25-06 up for sale and want to know what a fair asking price is. I take very good care of my things and it is in great shape. Cabelas looked at it and said they rated it 95% condition. To be...
I use the silver jags that arent' made of brass, but my rod does have a brass end on it where the jag screws in, but I don't think the patch reaches this so I don't think that's giving a false positive. I can actually see the copper stripes in the rifling is why I believe the patch is still...
I just ordered a 4oz bottle of Boretech Cu+2 Copper Remover to give it a try. I'm real interested in all the other products everyone mentioned too but one thing at a time I guess.
I've been seeing it around locally. I wasn't able to get the velocity I was expecting and didn't have time to keep tinkering with a load so I moved onto a different powder, otherwise I probably would have bought more of it. I looked for it for a year!
Tackdriver - that's the die I bought, I'm still playing with it. Before I really understood this die, I ordered a .002" undersized mandrel, now I'm thinking I should have ordered a .001" undersize. They come .001 smaller than your bullet, but you can get some springback. I'm going to try...
I have used that stuff, haven't been super impressed. I may try a longer soak with Copper Killer before buying a new product - might as well use it up.
I don't know much about picatinny rails but they seem to be pretty popular. Why would you put one on say a bolt action Tikka T3 hunting rifle? What advantage does that give you over plain old rings and bases? Any disadvantages (like scope height)?
truck driver thanks, I'll have to try it. I did try other cleaners like the foam spray/soak cleaners before what I'm doing now and wasn't all that impressed.
Do u guys clean until there's no copper in your rifling? I feel like an over-cleaner but I can seldom get my rifling copper free.
I run a couple jags and nylon brush with Butch's bore shine, then 2 patches of Montana copper killer and soak for 15 then a brush with copper killer, then...
