I would say so! The rifle is built on a Mauser action from the era (1914-16) so it may be strong enough to do 60k. I'm not really going to push it too much. Just want some accurate loads to take the old girl out once again.

They are close. But not enough to use the 6.5-06 load data interchangeably. The Newton case has less case capacity than the -06 case. I didn't know if QL had anything close to it or not. I was hoping someone out there had messed with one. Thinking of using 270 brass to make cases then trim.

Thanks, Dr. Mike. That gives me a place to start. Don't plan on pushing this old gun too hard. Just wanted something I could use on these little whitetail down here. I'll post results when I get them.

Anyone ever work with this cartridge/bullet combo? Wanting something 'light-weight' in an old Krag I have. For powders I have: BLC (2) H335 Tac IMR 4064 IMR 4350 Varget Hornady cases (new, unfired) WLR primers.

Took my first two elk with a 25-06 and 120 gr Partitions way back when. No idea how many whitetail have ended up in the freezer because of that rifle and the other 25-06 I have.

Have a nearly shot-out 25-06 that used to love a 120 gr Speer and IMR4831. I'm now chasing the lands and couldn't put enough 4831 in the case to make it work. Tried 7828, H4831, both 4350's and H1000. The figured, what the heck, and tried 7977. Bingo! .5-.75" groups with the 110 AB zipping along...

Here's what Scotty & Ray are talking about. I 'tested' it yesterday with a known accurate load. 10 rounds (actually, 20 in case my magnetospeed 'missed' one) and my known load came out in the middle of a 'flat' spot in the velocity. http://www.65guys.com/10-round-load-dev ... dder-test/

In my two 25-06's they're at .1 jump. My 243 is at .08 jump. My 264 is at .1 and my 6.5x55 is at .05". I'll be playing with a 30-06 and some 125's just for S&G's. I'll probably start them off about .1.
