Just wondering what QL shows as the case capacity for 25-06?
Cases I'm interested in are:
Remington (R-P)
Winchester
Hornady
Norma.
Just was wondering how much difference there is in them.
Thanks in advance.
Already tormenting him with the 6.5x55 I have off at Pac-nor. He liked my 25-06's and the 243.
The 264 WM came as a bit of a surprise to him though
A friend and myself took a trip up to Whittington Center over the weekend. Really enjoyed popping steel on the 500 m silhouette range and even took some shots at the white buffalo at 1123 yards.
Took me 4 shots to hit with one of my 25-06's, then figured just for grins, I'd shoot the 243 at it...
man-made items can, and will, fail. But saying that and expecting a poorly placed shot to 'work' is just plain ridiculous.
I've made some poorly placed shots in my time and paid for it with long tracking jobs and smelly cleaning jobs.
I have had only two bullets that failed to work as...
For years my load was with IMR4831 and a 120 gr Speer. After having poor service with that bullet on two different axis does, I started playing with the 110 AB. The IMR and H 4831 that I tried didn't work too well on either of my rifles (both Rem 700's w/ 22" tubes).
I found a good load with RL...
I've started some development with it in my 308. The 180's loved the stuff. Haven't had the opportunity to run any over a chrony or to take it out any further than 100 so far. As of now, it looks very promising.
If you can find it, you might try some RL33 and those 140 grain bullets. I'm having good luck with it and the 142 LRAB's. I don't know how it would do with the heavier stuff though.
little canisters of the compressed air (used to clean computers) is one thing I've used in the summer. Wet rag is also good. Keep them in the shade when you do the rag or just rest them in the shade without the rag.
Watched a guy in San Antonio once that after shooting a string of 5-10, would...
I run 2 different bullets in one of my 243's - 85 gr partition and 90 grain Accubond. Less than 1/2" difference in POI out to 200 yards. Either one will toast whatever you're wanting to shoot with it. For funsies, I load the 95 gr BT. In mine, it doesn't group as well, but, it still smacks steel...
I've used one of these quite often. Only problem is whenever we actually get rain here in WTX, the legs can sink in.

I use the AB's and LRAB's in 4 of my rifles. The furthest off of the bunch is in two of my 25-06's and both of those are .1 off of the lands. My 264 WM likes the LRAB at .08 off and the 243 takes them best at .05 off. The 243 has the tightest grouping of the bunch, putting 5 inside of .5"...
I gave it a try in my Mod. 70, 26" 1-9 and didn't find a load worth chasing. Velocity was in the mid-3100's but accuracy wasn't there in my rifle.
I ended up finding a good load right at 3100 fps with some RL 33.
Talking with some folks at the Beretta building at the Grand National Trap shoot, I asked why there were guys bringing in a DT-10 to be 're-built'? Their answer was that many trap shooters will shoot betweein 150-250,000 rounds of ammo a year. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND ROUNDS!
The result is...
100 or so fps or a happy wife.
Brother, you just did the right thing on so many levels. Now when she looks at those rings, she'll get tears of happiness for what you did. Good on you.
I load the NABLR's in my 264. Best groups have been from .05 - .1 off the lands. For the regular accubonds the jump seems to be about the same. My closest to the lands to date is in one of my 25-06. It's right at .05 off the lands and prints 5 shot groups at .6 or so @ 100.
Yep, it is a shooter. Every time I think about re-barreling, I find a load like this and just keep punching more bullets down the barrel.
Either should work well on the whitetails and axis down here. If I get the chance, I'll report back.
Took my other 25-06 out this weekend and played with the 7977 and the 110 Ab's again. Found a good load at 58.5 grains. 5 shot group right at .65" or so. Ran a few over the magnetospeed and they measured at 3125 (22" barrel) with an SD of 17. I'm happy with that as well!
