I'm going to try it ...!!!

I've done if a few times now. I used the "Acraglas" kit, which worked pretty well. But it's not rocket science, nor do I think you need one of these kinds of kits. Just worked out, and was cheap enough. Just make sure you have release agent over everything. The one 'pucker' moments I always...

    Reloder 22 Powder

It's been in circulation. Even my local Walmart has a couple #'s of RL22 that's been sitting on the shelves for a few weeks.

    Ridgerunner what primers?

They aren't supposed to be hotter (210 vs. 210M or 215 vs 215M). The match primers were manufactured with tighter standards, so they should be more consistent.

    Ridgerunner what primers?

There was a guy posting on here a while back (280ai shooter) who had issues with RL26 and Fed 210's. He switched to 215's and it made a huge difference. Since then, I've noted several other RL26 users going with the magnum primers. I'm using the 215s. Sadly I haven't been able to find 215M...

    280ai shooters

168 grain Berger VLD Hunting Fed 215 60.5 grn RL26 @ 2908 fps Nosler brass 24" barrel I think I could push it just a bit more, but I don't think I could get much past 2950 fps.

    280ai shooters

I will probably never look any further then RL26, love that stuff. Not sure, but RL25 may give you a bit more speed. IMR 7977 is definitely interesting as well, I just haven't really heard anything from other 280 Ackley guys yet. Might be a top performer.

    New project

LOVE IT! very cool, can't wait to see that build come together. The world of 6.5 mm bullets is just huge. There are so many options out there. (y)

    another seating depth question

3.410" sounds pretty realistic with those soft point bullets. Remington 700's (at least my old 270 win) come with quite a bit of freebore. Remember however it will measure quite differently with different bullets. Yeah, your best bet is to leave well enough alone. I'd probably opt for the...

    Ya gotta love her!

Its a tough call, to re-barrel or to buy new. A new barrel will have much better accuracy potential, but many new factory rifles are pretty darn good (it can be a gamble though). Guess it depends on how much you invested in upgrades to your 280 already. If it's just a stock rifle, then...

270 Winchester with RL 26 Powder

I think that would be a good match. Alliant does list some load data for the 150 grain bullets. You might also want to experiment with magnum primers if the standard LR aren't working out. Good luck! (y)

    338 winchester & reloder 26

Yeah, I think RL 26 is just too slow for the 338 winnie. Plus, I'd be weary of the QL predictions for RL26, I think the default burn rate for that powder needs to be calibrated. RL 19 and the various 4350 powders would be just about perfect. Maybe 4831.

    My 6.5-284 Norma arrived

That sounds like a sweet package, should be a great set-up. What bullets are you going to try? the 1:8 should give you a lot of possibilities. (y)

    RL25 & 280AI

RL19 should work, I think it's close to IMR 4350 in terms of burn rate (which is listed, just glancing up at MAinAR's Nosler loads). I bought an 8# keg of RL 26 for my 280 Ackley. I don't want to deal with supply chain disruptions. If RL22 is working for you, stock up! The next preseditnial...

    .277 129grain Barnes LRX bullet

I've heard 0.050" off the lands is about where you want to be… or at least start with. I haven't tried them yet, but I have 2 boxes of 7mm 168 grn LRX for my 280 Ackley. Those bullets are definitely huge, so it's going to be a bit of a science project to get them to shoot. BTW, Barns's web...

    Brass needed

Midway has them on sale for 62.49 / 50. My 280ai Nosler brass was about $75 off the shelf at Sportsmans Warehouse, so to me Midway has a pretty good deal going.

    270 winchester makeover complete

I know there are much better stocks out there, but I do like the B&C's. They look great, and are a great value. I had a 270 win for the last 10 years, and I made similar upgrades to that rifle as I went. I recently replaced the barrel with a 280ai, but I'll say that 270 never let me down.

    New build-- 28 Nosler-----update----FINISHED!!!!

I'd think about your barrel specs a bit. I would really consider a 1:8 or 1:8.5 twist. And make sure you have plenty of throat to use whatever long bullets are out there. The 175 NABLR would be killer, but Berger 195 EOL Elite Hunter would certainly catch my attention.

    6.5-06 AI?

That's what I was wondering myself. The regular 6.5-06 already has quite a bit of capacity. If you can push the high BC 140's around 2900 fps, then I believe it would already have the ballistics to do just about anything.

.300 Win.Mag. - Looking for a starting point on handloads...

Nolser lists all of those powders in their on-line load data. Were you looking for something different? Optimal OAL is going to be dependent on your rifle, so the somewhat generic data Nosler offers isn't a bad place to start. H1000 is even listed as the "most accurate" for the 180's...

7 RUM. And 168gr ABLR. Pet load??

Ok, gotcha. The 168 is no slouch. I do believe they are very sensitive to seatng depth. Might also try the 160 Accubond. They still have a 0.55 BC!
