I have just gotten my feet wet with my .280 Rem brass from them, and so far am greatly impressed. Brass appears to be of high quality. Weighed a sample, and consistency is better than my Nosler/Norma. Annealing "feels" spot on in sizing.
Fired the best groups ever in this rifle with it...
4.5 Gr Unique with a 158 LRN in .38 Spl. This load is a few generations older than me, and it still dings targets and takes bunnies in the woods with little meat damage.
Due to various shortages, I've shuffled the powder selection a bit but kept the same performance levels. Rationing my...
Away from my notes, but I believe my charge is 46 Gr or slightly below Lyman max. Please do verify with reputable data source, as I'm going off memory here. With the Speer 150 flat base, it is especially accurate in my wife's Savage. Have also run other 150s with good results including H150...
I've been fortunate in that I've been able to stock in bits and starts over the last few months. I wanted, needed, to buy in quantity back in March when things were readily available, but my "essential" employment kept me from being able to receive shipments.
I have helped a couple of shooters...
Wow, thanks. The 2 IMRs did better than I thought they would before hitting the case fill ceiling, but looks like Ball C or 748 are still in the sweet spot. Good to have options in this day and age though!
Anyone else from the hive mind have any ideas for high density powders in that burn...
Can someone run a quickload request on this caliber? Bullets I'm interested in are Speer 130btsp, Speer 145BTSP. Powders W748, H BL-C2, IMR 4064(not expecting much here), IMR 3031.
I'd buy it in a heartbeat and use it as-is, mount a 2x7 or 2x8 30mm with a 3P4 reticle for short-medium range hunts where 2MOA (should be able to get there with a handload) will be more than sufficient. If you can tweak it down some, all the better.
I may have the opportunity to use my 7TCU for an early whitetail hunt in a shotgun zone here in MN (handguns legal for deer are legal in shotgun zone). This is a very mild cartridge, so obviously my ranges would be limited.
Has anyone used this cartridge or the similar 7BR or a mild wildcat...
I have used it in 5.56 with the 75 hornady BTHP. It got a little spikey in warm weather at maximum so I backed it off a fuzz and it was fine. Accuracy was good.
Those 788s are a great rifle. The Birch stocks refinish very well also. I used some oil based cherry stain diluted in BLO on my old one when the factory finish became unusable. Brought out a nice warm flame and scale pattern and gave the wood a very soft feel.
Only issues I ever had with...
That is referencing various similar combinations looking for trends to see if you are on the right path. Very different from jumping off the board when the water's depth is unknown.
So if I understand correctly, you are unwilling to try a similar bullet and work up, but willing to try print or internet data starting at full on max??!! NO. The first approach you eluded to, trying a similar bullet and working up is the correct one. Cross reference with your bullet and...
Depends on the scenario. A 9mm hi-cap goes with me EVERYWHERE these days. Sign of the times.
After that, different scenarios call for different guns. A Taurus M66 .357 is the most common. I carry a small amount of 158 Speer full power, and usually a box or 2 of cast 158s for some casual...
You didn't mention it, but IMR 4350 or H4350 would fit this bill very well. It (IMR 4350) is THE powder for me in .280 Rem across all bullet weights. I also use it exclusively in 6.5x55, it should perform equally well in .260 Rem. It is fast enough for the 7mm-08. I've loaded .270/130 grain...
Wondering if anyone has some pet loads to share for my new 10" Contender I picked up in this caliber.
My suitable powders are limited. Per Data I have found, my W748, BL-C2 and IMR 4227 are suitable. I also have a small amount of VN140, and a lot of IMR 4064 if anyone has data for those.
I...
There are certainly people to whom cost is no concern. I took one of the guys from corporate from our company on a duck hunt. He wished to experience a real central MN hunt, not a guided, pampered country outing over a rice field as he was used to in TX and LA. Everybody else was afraid to...

Going in a different direction here price wise. Great knives are not necessarily expensive. I know you said 5-6" blade, but IMHO this is absolutely not needed for any task I could imagine other than combat. This is not a full tang knife...
I'm a little late to the party, been busy.
Of the calibers you mention, either the 6.5s or the 7-08 will do nicely. I shoot a .280 rem and basically load it like a vintage 7x57. With cup and core 145 speers, it's a deer hammer.
I'm going to throw out one you may not have considered. You...
