Use the bergers, or try seating the partitions to a shorter overall length until you hit an accuracy node. popular belief is that you have to have the bullet either kissing or .020 off the lands for accuracy but that is not always the case. RE-15 is also another option but i does get a bit fussy...
Sorry to hear this, I shoot bergers primarily but I will.be the first to say that the amax gives up nothing to any other bullet out there. As far as volume goes i will stick my neck out and say there are as many amax's sold as there are bergers if not more.
I have owned both, a 452 varmint, and a 527 synthetic in .223. both well made and accurate. I think they still twist the .223 at 1-9", this will keep you at the 69 g sierra matchking level with the .223 . barrel life? not sure exactly,I would assume several thousand with the heavies. I believe...
I would take a look at the 6.5 saum as well, george gardener "owner of GA precision" did pretty well with one "won it" at the snipershide cup this year.
Kestrel 4500 with the horus ballistics, this will give you current information to apply to your scope regardless of changing conditions assuming your initial inputs are accurate.
If your scope is "bouncing all over" with the recoil of a 308 you may need to address your form??? I understand the ability to hit 1k targets with 9 power but i prefer to have the ability to see the exact point of aim on the target for precise information, meaning relaying to your brain your...
I started doing the 25+ rounds or more on a new barrel about three barrels ago and have had pretty good luck with it and so have the guys i shoot with. I did it with the .284 bartlein and all three of the DTA barrels and had little copper fouling. I dont ever clean down to bare metal either, a...
idaho, i run the schmidt pmlls on my guns, my teammate uses the premiers. I cannot tell the difference between the two in the glass department. It would come down to what options were available in deciding between the two. Premier and schmidts are both at the top of the scope game.
warning, when somebody finally buys top shelf optics one suddenly sells off the lesser optics to buy more of the top shelf optics. its funny how after looking through a schmidt, premier, hendsolt, swarovski or the like, your not as content as you were before doing so.
I have an oehler 35p and it works well, but they all tend to lie sometimes. I have found out the hard way that proofing at 600 800 and 1000 and adjusting the VELOCITY " assuming all other entries are correct" on the ballistic program to match what the bullet is telling me is the best way to go...
the ax is a good one as well, however you are going to have to use a higher mount in order to clear the barrel shroud. You can order pistol grip skins from AI which gives you the same grip as an ax for $110. That is what i put on my AIAW. Mile high shooters supply carries them. they are alot...
the 4.5-14 is plenty of scope out past 800, i dont think i had my schmidt over 16x at the snipershide cup for two reasons, 1 you had to pay attention to the target order, so if you had a station when you were shooting off sticks you would lose the target during recoil and get turned around as to...
scott, the 22x47/6.5x47 rifle is a beauty i got what i was asking for it and it is going to a good home. just narrowung down my gear and keeping it similar in configuration. The 6x47 will mimic my AIAW nicely and keep the form current during the off season. I will also probably sell the manners...
