200 or so out of my 6x47 lapua before I think about cleaning it. I never clean it down to bare metal a few patches of bore tech and I am done. I do however clean the action at the end of the day. I think with the 308 I won't clean it, probably just run a patch with oil on it down the barrel once...
If your going to reload I would look at the 168 hybrid from berger, I used these in a match this year in a 308 and they worked extremely well. .520 G1 bc is pretty good for a 168 30 cal bullet. I just bought 1200 155 palma bullets 2516 part number. I will be running a 308 next year in all the...
Top notch place to do business, I have bought a lot of stuff from them and will continue to do so. Mile High supports the shooting sports and went huge at the snipershide cup again this year. The shirts were provided by mile high plus a ton of other stuff including a spuhr mount I grabbed. Great...
The 140 will work in the 6.5x47 you will just be in the 2725 fps realm. Wade stutteville formerly of the surgeon rifle team "surgeon decided to abandon the team" used a 140 in the 6.5x47 to take third at the snipershide cup. Remember your are going 308 velocity but instead of a .450-.500 G1 bc...
Second at jordan, the boys from in motion targets beat us. Need to work on the moving targets!!! Bo and kelsy ployhar "ployhar precison the guy that builds my guns" took third. 14 teams showed up from washington, North dakota, wyoming, and montana.
You can try the Re-17 but I would stay away from it, my buddy runs varget in his 6.5x47 and so does his wife. The 130 berger is what most people run in that case at around 2950 fps. I prefer the H4350 in the 6.5x47 myself, better fill in the case and very stable in temperature variations unlike...
Just an update for 2014, my partner and I won the April Jordan match, the dynamic long and static long course at the stillwater tactical challenge, I also won the potomac precision rifle match last week. We "the frozen guy in the picture with me" will be shooting the Jordan match this weekend.
You will lose more velocity per inch than a 308 but it all depends on what your velocity goal is. I would think a 130 in the Creedmoor will get you 2800ish and a 140 2700ish. This is based on what I have seen with the 6.5x47 which is similar. I am sure you can over pressure and achieve more...
Joel, I had a great time with you guys. Nice meeting Russ and George. Good guys and good times. PS. Thanks for the Potatoe and asparagus recipes. I think konni has a small crush on you.
Benchmark is a good barrel I have one on my 300 norma. Lilja makes a good barrel as well. The reason I would go with benchmark is the fact they do support the shooting sports. Benchmark has donated several barrels to the local matches around here. That alone is why I would buy a benchmark over...
Here is a pic of the stillwater tactical match when I used my 6x47 lapua and my teammate used his 6.5x47. I have decided to shoot a .308 win for next year's comps. This in theory should make me a better overall shooter and wind caller??? I do not see the 308 as a handicap inside of 600 yards...
I have a couple of the p4f schmidts, I do and don't like the reticle. I do like the fact it's not a busy reticle but I don't understand why the the windage and elevation subtends to .8 mil instead of .5 mils then goes to full mil half mil increments. I assume it has to do with ranging a torso...
I do practice the standing quite often, most matches will have a offhand station in them. I still only use offhand in a hunting scenario as a last resort. Coyote hunting does promote the use of off hand "hail mary" shots, this generally occurs after shooting one from a solid position then taking...
