The .284 will give you 2800-2850 with a 180 vld and a 26" barrel, the velocity doesnt look to impressive until you run the numbers with the high bc berger. I own a .284 and have won matches with it, one of the better do it all rounds in my opinion.
Thanks guys, I used my foxpro shockwave and the 6x47, my buddy used his 22-243 middlestead. We didnt get any long shots this year, the furthest one i killed was 425. We did have plenty of mishaps along the way, we should have killed eight easy.
Save some money and get on snipershide optics for sale. People are dumping the older nightforce NXS line at bargain prices. That is where i would look for a great scope in the 1200 range.
My buddy and I won the joliet coyote derby again this year, conditions were miserable but we managed to squeak out the win with five coyotes. 34 teams entered this year and we walked away with $1700. Good way to start off the new year.
I just picked up a premier heritage 5-25x56 tactical off of snipershide, i will put it up against my schmidts and do a little write up on it when it gets here.
Considering the fact the average shot will be under 150 yards the .223 will be more than enough gun in that scenario. The CZ 527 varmint synthetic is a great commercial offering and will fit your application well.
I built my 300 jazz "improved 300 Norma" on a benchmark 1-9 twist 5R heavy palma. Barrel shoots as good as my bartleins. Great bunch of guys who support the shooting sports, they donated a barrel for our little jordan match. Benchmark is right up there with the rest of the big name barrels and...
Brian, it is just an old school remington trigger that my smith worked on. I kept it for a spare and used it when my jewell broke "my fault overpressured load, pierced primer, broken trigger." Hope it serves you well. Ps if your going to ramp up the loads in your 6 use the cci primer, the...
Why on earth would you want a 6x47 lapua? Good choice brian I tried to get them to cut it down to a 22" barrel but they wouldnt do it, HA! I think your going to like it, I have had fair luck with mine. Any questions feel free to call, the trigger should break clean at 2.4 pounds.
The eliminator and the carbon remover is all I use, couple patches with the eliminator and a nylon brush, then a couole with the carbon remover. The carbon remover works well on AR parts and suppressors also.
Scott, one of the guys I shoot with sold his khales and bought the steiner 3-15 tactical and loves it, I have heard nothing but positive feedback in regards to the steiner tacticals. Remember the initial sting of the money spent on quality fades quicker than the money forever lost on buying a POS.
Am looking to do some low budget hog hunting, not looking to hire a guide. Looking for info on a do it yourself kind of hunt. Any accurate info is appreciated, thank you.
22 hornet didnt take? I think they still offer that 100 plus years after the fact???
.222 which was the go to benchrest round until the ppc and is still offered.
30-338, having owned this and the 300 win I would pick the 30-338 everytime.
You will want to look at H4831 sc also, thats what I ran in my 30-338 with the 190 vld. My old smith builds a pile of these every year and 4831 is what he tests with.
