savage fox .410 model B SXS still have it and still use it for upland birds, My dad gave me that 30 years ago. Rifle winchester model 62 pump, still have it also. These are the only guns i wont sell, the rest are just tools designed for different tasks. PS, sold the AIAW this week, have another...
magnums have a place for sure, but for the most part at which distance most animals are shot at I would say a standard has more than enough energy to complete the task. I have had several magnums in the past, but I will say I will give up energy to watch the impact through the scope for...
Both are similar in quality, if your going to run your loads on the stiff side get the lapua, if you are going to run consetvative loads norma will last as well.
Actually you would have a 7x47 lapua not a .284 win. If your going to barrel either a .284 or a .280 ackley on a short action " asuming its short because you built a 6.5x47 on it" the term pyrrhic victory comes to mind. I would do a 7-08 ackley if I wanted a 7mm in a short action. Reason being...
The beauty of the terrapin is not only how far it can range but the narrow beam it uses, we have ranged between trees eight feet apart past the 1400 yard mark and were able to get accurate readings, I cant do that with my geovids at 800. The only thing i see the terrapin missing is an angle...
I seem to remember the soccer dads paying $100 for a pmag not too long ago, I would imagine the price will come down when the hoarding is over and production outweighs the demand.
congrats on the terrapin, we have had one for 8 months and can say as far as getting an accurate range on a long distance non reflective target, the terrapin is one of the best out there. 2k is a small price to pay for accurate information.
Bartlein, krieger, lilja, benchmark have all shot well for me, I like the bartleins the best. Remember you still pay the same amount to have a barrel installed, whether it be a turd or a good one. I dont make enough money to cut corners, thats a rich mans game.
Is this the first time you have shot in awhile? could be a rusty shooter problem??? I know if i dont shoot for a week or so i notice a difference in my performance.
Couple of things made me decide on the 6x47, 1 I have had a 6.5x47 and a 22x47, it doesnt seem to matter what cailber you choose the 47 shoots extremely well. 2 this case is a bit shorter than a .243 so it leaves tons of room in the magazine for the longer bullets. 3 you can run the 6x47 in the...
Had a chance to work a load up in the 6x47 lapua.
41.5 g VV N160 " had four pounds laying around and tried it, it works."
berger 105 hybrid .010 off
fgm 205 primer
3145 fps
accuracy= ridiculous
I have 200 rounds through this so far and am more than happy with it, I can only imagine i will like...
