    26 Nosler?

I think it's pretty neat. In factory loaded ammo it does stand out in velocity and retained energy. It can also be chambered in a shorter, lighter, cheaper package than it's closest factory competitor the 270 Wby. We can beat it with our loads and bullets but most hunters buy factory ammo. I'd...

Mounts on a XCR II 300 RUM

It's going to depend on your use. I put dual dovetail mounts on mine for strength. I'm thinking of going with a 20degree long range on two RUMs . One is a leupold one piece and the other a weaver like yours but again with 20 degree long range. I like to zero at 300 yds so I can use my BDC...

    Christmas rifle

Merry Christmas indeed. I think you should keep the rifle and the wife. If that's not true love I don't know what is. Congrats Brian

    Another Model 94

You know I just looked at some pictures of the 94 Timber in 450 Marlin and it didn't have the cross bolt safety

    Another Model 94

Those are nice classic rifles and the end of an era for the old 94s with the most modern loads they were chambered in. I'm surprised you haven't picked up any of the 94 Timber models in 444 or 450 Marlin. They should be great for Alaska size game. I had the 450 version for a while and it's a...

Need Loads for the 7mm RUM with 168 ABLR

I ran 88 thru 90 grains of RL 25 and got velocities from 3220fps to 3292 fps but I have to re-run the tests because the results didn't pattern right. The accuracy was great. I used a longer OAL 3.635 because that's where the 160 gr. Accubond set dies put it for the same distance to the lands...

Need Loads for the 7mm RUM with 168 ABLR

I finally scored some of the 168 gr. ABLR bullets and I'm going to give them a try in the 7 RUM. I've been using the 160 AB and RL25. Anyone know the loads for these 168 grainers? I'm thinking about going down 2 gr and work up.

    Another RUM

The stock is plenty strong enough. I've put one on a custom 416 Rem and it has no problems. The Boyd's stocks are very nice but you'll add about 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of carry weight which may help perceived recoil. I went with the muzzle break and the lighter weight because I do a lot of hiking...

    Cartridges That Didn't Take

With some of the new powders available (Superformance , Leverevolution and CFE 223) some of those obsolete and unpopular cartriges aren't so bad. I'm getting incredible velocities and accuracy out of the 30-06 and 308 based calibers not to mention the WSMs. I still think my 375 Ultramag is...

    280AI 175ABLR

Wow  That should make a outstanding long range hunter or target set up. I think I'll try some of those in my regular 280.

    The magnum advantage: about 10%

The load is 59.5 gr. superformance. I didn't intend it to be a magnum load it just turned out that way and it's accurate. The debate goes on. I just go on experience. I hate tracking elk that ran off with one or two holes in their lungs. As someone on this forum wrote, "I do my tracking before...

    The magnum advantage: about 10%

With Hodgdon Superformance powder my 30-06 puts the 180 Accubond across my Chrono at 3005 fps with a below max load. Soooo Which magnum. For a 750 lb elk to react to the shot like a 175 lb deer does to a 30-06 it takes more than adding 150 fps to the velocity. You can load a 30-06 with a 220...

That's it Dan. What would be even better is if it had the new Long Range Accubonds on it.
