The 160 gr. Accubond with IMR 7828 at 2950 fps is killer in my 280 and the 280 AI can only be better. The Accubond is the best all around bullet made. I've made hits at 3130 fps at 3o yards and took the elk down so fast I ran past it trying to find it. They never fail on shoulder shots and they...
Wow!
Scotty that came out nice. I've been thinking about trying the process for a couple of years but just couldn't get past the fear of screwing it up. I might take courage from your success and give it a whirl. I have one old beater that used to be my pride and joy that could sure use...
Based on all reports the 140 gr. will work best for me. And of course it will the fulfill the Weatherby "Ultra Velocity" promise. The 100 yd. and under shots should be easier to place for the heart lung area where expansion is a good thing.
This is the rifle I posted 7mm Rem load question about . It's a Wby Vanguard Deluxe. It's new to me and I still havn't settled on a load.
That's the Bitterroot mountains in the background. We are already scouting for elk.
The 150 gr. TTSX was my third option. I just can't find any locally I can probably get some on line. I'll try the Accubonds first because I have both weights.
Thanks Jim,
That's the very load I have ready to try out of the Nosler manual but I wasn't sure if that was a heavy enough bullet. I'll go ahead and work it up and post the results.
Greg
I found a Wby Vanguard Deluxe in 7mm Rem Mag that I'd like to use for mule and white tail deer. I'm trying to decide between 140 gr or 160 gr. Accubonds or the Long Range Accubond if I can ever find some. What works for you and what loads do you like.
Thanks
Greg
I'll post a picture as soon as...
Just a note; I prefer the factory seconds and have found them to be more accurate in several calibers, but they sometimes have a different point of impact. I think the ammo manufacturers may specify a slightly different shape or the canalure may change the flight signature slightly. I have...
I find that the Accubond in a large enough caliber, especially with a Ultra Mag, will penetrate well and deliver sufficient hydrostatic shock damage to the vitals. Usually they leave a exit wound but always take the animal down cleanly with little or no tracking necessary.
