    Weatherby Alaskan rifle

I bought a 340 Alaskan and a changed to a weatherby sporter wooden stock and it took a few simple modifications and some JB Quick because of screw locations. I bedded the recoil lug only and it shoots way better, the stock is lighter and it feels a lot better.. Just one option.

    Forbes Rifle

I'm waiting for my CLR bolt with new firing pin to get back from NULA. I got a new Wolf spring to correct the misfire issue and while I was setting up to put the new spring in the sould of metal hitting the concrete floor sounded the death toll for the end of the firing pin. :x The rifle had...

    17 Super Rimfire

Chances are that someone other that Savage will make a rifle for it or once Savage has sold a few they will have a latest, greatest version that may be upscale. IMO

    17 Super Rimfire

I wonder what the ammo will cost? I've been thinking hard about a 17 Hornet but this may be better.

    colt light rifle firing pin

Ya, I dropped it when I was replacing the spring with a Wolf Blitz striker version. High tempered they are. I'll give Melvin a call. Thanks

Good Enough! - 300WSM Load checks

The Savage accuracy mystique strikes again. I've been running the 150 gr. Aubonds at 3350 fps. Real good long range energy.

    Love / hate 338 WM

There's always the good old muzzle brake. I have them on all my heavy weights up to 416. Ear plugs don't bruise my shoulder or make me flinch. Just a thought.

    REMINGTON 700 .375RUM

That's a fine looking and well built rifle. Congrats! Depending on what you plan to hunt you can shoot quite a ways with the 260gr Accubond at 3080 fps. Thats almost 5500 FPE. It takes elk down way out there real nice. I use a 4.5-14x40 Leupold B&C on mine.

    Remington 2013

The new low end rifles have a little flair and probably shoot as good or better than the old standards from 20 or 30 years ago but you can see the cost cutting effects. As I remember the Savage 110 was junk back in the 80s, as was the Remington 788. I've tried the Mossberg 4x4 in 338 Win. with...

    It's not all bad.....

Sportsman's warehouse here was out of most brass and primers. I bought a pound of powder with no problem. The bullet and ammo stocks were OK. Anything AR was flying out the door and 223 ammo is scarce to none. It looks like another dry year. On the good side there is a lot of real cheap...

Back Online With My Big 8

The 8 Mag is an awsome round and you have it shooting real nice. That should take some game for you.

    Colt Light Rifle

dubyam, I used the grind to fit and it snugged up real well even with the slight arc the stock has. I did have to drill one new hole in the pad to match the screw holes in the stock. I fired 12 rounds of ammo thru it working up velocity loads and got no shift. If I notice any movement I'll glue...

    2000-2600fps Magic Impact velocities?

Thru the years I've had the best results with the higher velocity rifles with the Accubond. For impact velocities in the 2500fps or less a lot of cup and core bullets work just fine and the partition is, of course, the best. I don't choose the partition for 3000+ fps bullets because I find the...

    Colt Light Rifle

I bought a CLR in 30-06. The trigger is a little creepy but It's such a simple setup that I simply honed the contact surface and it's under 3 lbs. I like a little creep in some rifles. The accuracy I'm still working on but it will be under one inch for sure. It holds tight groups at 50 yds while...

    The toy!!!!

I'm thinking it will be the 378 Bee necked to .35 or 9.3

    Ummmm, about that resolution...

Good looking rifle Guy. I'm still dragging my feet but I hear they're getting prescious. I like the backdrop in the picture, a rifle is just a tool.

    Weight into consideration?

Losing weight helps get me up the hill better but the rifle is still hanging on one shoulder and the muscles that hold against that uneven load get tired and my shoulder sore. I used to think 9 pounds was plenty light but lately my 8 lb loaded 338 RUM is the heavy weight. Even the 416 is just...
