Congrats to the little huntress!
All that work she has done has paid off big time! (And it shows)
Awesome to see someone investing this amount of time and guidance into their kids, providing them with knowledge and skills that will last a lifetime, not to mention great memories and shared meals...
My LH Rem 700 in 358 Win really likes the HSM 225 gr SGK ammunition. I just cannot find anymore here in Canada at the moment.
I am working towards finding a good handload with this bullet for this rifle. Need to some work to fine tune a load with either W748 or CFE223.
I still have to try the...
It seems that the term big game can apply to just about any larger animal hunted for meat that weighs about 80-100 lbs or more as a mature animal.
This fits well for North American game.
I think that here will be many species of antelope in Africa and Asia that will classify as big game, while...
As much fun as I used to have shooting a good friend's Brno in 222 Rem, I have always wanted a trim little left handed bolt action in 221 Fireball. There are many other cartridges that will offer more velocity, but the Fireball provides decent performance in a mild mannered rifle that will be...
Nothing wrong with the 130 gr AB, or the 130 gr Terminal Ascent bullet, and you would be able to get over 2800 fps in a 24" barrel with either in a modern action. Look at H4350 or Hunter for these bullets. I would limit them to 300 yards on elk though...as you'll be not much over the recommended...
Put on some miles this week looking for a moose for my daughter. Checked out some areas that have been proven in the past...came home with quite a few more grouse...mostly ruffies, some spruce hens, a duskie and a sharptail. Of course, the two big bull moose we saw were at last light along the...
Nosler lists Magnum as the most accurate powder tested for the 100 gr bullets in the 240 Wby; Max is 61.0 gr for 105% fill and 3253 fps out of a 24" barrel.
IMR 7828 will get just a few fps more.
Either powder should be easier to find.
A great idea and plan!
Here in Canada, our Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) regulations require not just a fall protection plan, but also a fall rescue plan for in case you fall for each and every location when working above 3m above ground level, and must be rescued after the fall, because as...
I have shot a friend's 6mm Rem and liked it, and have kept an eye out for a LH Rem 788 should I ever cross paths with one, as I have heard good things about their accuracy in that platform...I do think that I prefer the 6mm to the 243 just because it is less common...
But for the most part, I...
Spent a couple of days hunting with my daughter.
She got her first snowshoe hare yesterday with her 10/22, and my wife got her first sharptail yesterday with the 28 ga!
We did see 5 caribou yesterday at long distance; 3 bulls a cow and a calf. We could not locate the bison yesterday. :(
The day...
Both our New Zealand outfitter and our South African PH had the Toyota Hiluxes and were great little rigs for running around in. (Although we mostly hunted from the 1949 Willy's jeep on the main concession ins SA)
I too have asked Toyota many times as to when they will offer the Tundra with a...
The 240 is the other Wby I have always been intrigued to try...the 270 being my favourite so far.
There is a nice Rem 700 in 240 Wby for sale here in Canada that has been piquing my interest for a couple of weeks, but with the African trip in May looming, I have not pulled the trigger, so to...
Sorry, I'm a Dodge man...so cannot help you here...
All I would say is check on the reviews, as I have read that the Chevy engine is one of the worst rated engines available in a pickup right now, as rated by the mechanics who work on them...
I too have downgraded to a degree...no longer have...
As for the 7mm PRC, it is so close to the 7mm Rem Mag, which I really like and enjoyed owning and shooting over the years and do not currently have, that I had to play with one in a 24" barreled version when I could. So far, I am enjoying shooting this cartridge and rifle (a LH Fierce Carbon...
Since we are not allowed suppressors here in Canada, a 7 magnum with a 20” barrel has no appeal for me.
I have been perfectly happy with the 7mm Rem Mag’s performance.
I had no desire for the STW and would not have went there except that the rifle, a customized LH Sako for $800 that weighed 7...
