    35 Whelen new loads

Glad someone mentioned Big Game because I did try it before. Hard to believe it was 11 years ago now. That 275 gr Woodleigh load sure got your attention in a 7.5 lb rifle. The 250 gr Speers did quite well and 2559 fps was pretty decent speed...

    35 Whelen new loads

@NMachine sounds like a great load. I have the Speers and CFE 223 just haven't had time to try it out. Going to carry the Whelen more next year so need to get it done this spring. Going to try it with the 225 gr Sierra and Accubond too. I tried RL 15 and H 4895 with the 225 gr Accubond and they...

    170gn Ballistic Tip

I have seen that people who live at high elevations are able to stabilize the 165 gr ABLR and the 170 gr BT as well. What elevation are you at roughly? Where I live in not sure I could get away with a 1 in 10 twist, I'll have to try them when I get another 270 Win. My 6.8 Western really likes...

    35 Whelen new loads

On the Facebook 35 Whelen group lots of guys have tried CFE 223 with the 250's and getting into the 2600 fps+ range easily. I shoot 225's often and they are getting into the 2800 fps range easily with them. What powders are you able to find where you live?

.260 and 140 grain partition do it again.

Beautiful buck congratulations! Big fan of the 260 here, it's always performed well for me. The 140 gr PT is a good one.

    New Seekins 6.8 W , 170 gr Nosler BT 2738 fps=

Nice buck congratulations! Love the Seekins rifle, it's a beauty. How far was the shot? The young mulie buck I took at 190 yards with the 170 gr BT from my 6.8 left about a 1.5" exit wound, perfect performance.

    35 Whelen new loads

I'm going to try CFE 223 in mine soon. I would look at Varget, IMR 8208, IMR or H 4895 or even stick with IMR 3031. Any of those you can find locally would do the job.

    Accubond.....discuss

I like that you used the 140 gr out of your 280 AI for your grizzly. Too many guys think they need a cannon with the toughest bullet available. Not surprised that it gave you a very quick kill.

    Accubond.....discuss

@Blkram Gil, the 200 gr Accubond out of your 358 Win would be perfect for anything you'll want to hunt. Since it is a custom hopefully you'll be able to load it out a bit more than the 2.8" limit it the BLR.

    Accubond.....discuss

The bigger Accubond's are built tougher than the smaller ones but they all are excellent bullets. I have used the 130 gr 6.5 mm and 180 gr out of a 30-06 on blacktails that were sub 100 lbs and liked the performance. Have used 6.5 mm 130 gr - blacktail deer (several of them) 308 180 gr...

    New production grand slam bullets

They will do just fine. They should open a decent size would channel without a lot of extra meat damage. We used the old version of the 7 mm and it worked well The 6.5 mm always was a one piece core and it is a favorite for deer and bear. My friend and son use the current 270 150 gr on deer...

95 grain Ballistic Tip failure on a whitetail

That's why he came on asking the question, it behaved very oddly and was wondering why. He clearly stated it was a broadside shot several times. Most of the time bullets behave as expected but the odd time they do unexpected things.

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

I have a bit of leftover RL 10 x with nothing to use it in, I saw some data for it somewhere with180 gr bullets the Whelen.

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

I have a bunch of those 180 gr Speer's and am thinking of trying them next spring for black bear in my Whelen. Sounds like they will be devastating.

Group testing my Remington 7600 carbine in 35 Whelen with 180 grain hot cores

I believe that bullet is designed for the 35 Rem at much slower speeds. Sounds like it was still tough enough to handle that extra velocity. I would agree with you about using something a bit more suitable for the Whelen. Someone mentioned the 225 gr Sierra and that's what I would look at next.

300 WSM vs 300 Win Mag

I would choose the 300 WSM and think it's the best of the 300's myself. Easy to load it full power or load it at 308 or 30-06 speeds. In a Tikka definitely a 300 WSM, you'll have lots of room in that magazine. The 300 Win mag you'll won't have much room unless you go with new bottom metal. With...

95 grain Ballistic Tip failure on a whitetail

I think that could have happened with any bullet to be honest. Sometimes weird things happen. I wouldn't worry about it too much and would try the 95 gr BT again. Of course you could try the Accubond or Partition instead.
