Seems like Trijicon and Nightforce are thought of being the most durable scopes out there. Anything like a 3-9x40 or 3-10x42or a bit less magnification would be great. The 375 Ruger does have some reach so a really low power scope would be lacking.
Have not seen one yet but hope to find one to try. They make an over under too that's a lefty.
Benelli makes an over under too that you can shim the stock for left or right but it's pricey.
I have a Stoeger Condor and it is definitely cast for a RH shooter unfortunately. Wish it were straight stocked. I'm going to look at a reflex sight so it will hit to point of aim left handed.
Congratulations! Since you won the Douglas barrel it's already proven to be a lucky rifle for you. Hoping that this is the start of a much better year for you and your family! There's nothing on this continent I wouldn't hunt with a 165 gr AB at 2850 fps.
I should have guided for you guys who are tipping 10% in my two year mountain goat guiding career they never got close to that amount!
@Cowboy307 good luck on your hunt! You've gotten some good advice from the elk guys on here.
Bringing this thread up again. Any more info on the 204 Ruger as a predator round? Seems like it would be a point and shoot round to at least 300 yards.
This would be a great place to start I believe other companies also load the 168 gr Berger's. Add the Nosler 168 gr ABLR factory load (although the ABLR can be more finicky when it comes to accuracy in general) and the Hornady 162 gr ELD-X load. Not sure if Hornady loads a ELD-M factory load but...
Handsome little dude, looks like when he's in his late teens he'll be able to pack out your elk for you. "It's up there, through the devil's club and above that cliff"!
