So if this round is running about the same speeds as current offered rounds, is there cause for concern about bullet performance. a 100gr BT dosent care if it comes out of a steel case if the MV is 3100 fps, seems like a 25-05 to me? Maybe not....? Dosent matter, I wont be buying a bunch of...
You could add the 250 Savage to the list of cartriges that work with 4350. Although, I'vre been stuck w/ IMR 4350 for years because I havent been able to find H4350 for years. I assume that makes a difference, not sure how much. Some one here will venture an opinion. CL
I'm all for fixed powers. Dads K-4 has ridden on top of his 7 Mag for 60 years. Dont shoot it enough or well enough to know that iti dosent hold zero. My 2 in groups arent much of an indicator though. The k-4 on Mom's rifle is about the same. I have a 4x Bushnell on my .22. Havent adjusted...
My shoulders are shot. 55+ years pushing a wheelchair and walking on crutches will do that to ya. My tears are in-operable on the back side of the scapula (supra spinatus and infraspinatus) so not necessarily your situation. Recoil will definitely give me more pain. Biggeest affect I see...
Back fire on youtube- One mans opinions - Pro's and cons. Based on this , biggest advantage espoused is the shorter barrel and equivilent velocity to a longer barrel. If you can afford to run a suppressor, I guess there's an up side. Not one I need, but that dont make it bad.
Mr. Von...
Please understand I wasnt questioning the efficacy of the Accubond. From all I've heard here they work, (and I happen to like biscuits and gravy). Just grousing they were a bit pricey I guess. My 250 Savage will never drive them fast enough to make them worth the investment IMHO. Use and...
Very nice recount of your hunt Guy. Gotta like them blue tips and the 25-06. Gotta be a sentimental favorite. It has served you well for many years. CL
Have said it here recently, If Cerakote had been as common 25 years ago my old 250 might have received a "Gun metal Grray" paint job to go in its walnut stock. Had her blued instead. Yours is a HANDSOME rifle! Continue to enjoy..... CL
Gotta go back and look it up some time, but I believe Jack O'Connor wrote that his go to sheep rifle was a 25-20 or some other "small" lever action. I know for sure it wasnt a 270. Portability and accuracy trumped power. Hmm....... CL
This post should go under the heading of "when things dont go like they plan..." and be referenced any time some one says my BT blew up etc.... My point is, sometimes weird things happen to bullets inside stuff, no matter who makes 'em. Good on you for trusting your first shot and following...
By the time we found my first deer- a week after I shot it- it was too long to be Ok with trying to eat it even though it was cold that week. However, Dads Short hairs never looked better come mid winter. Sleek and shiny, and solid muscle, with just a little too much fat.... At least it didnt...
The man does with his pistols what I cant do with a rifle and enough sand bags to build a "cement pond"... ;) Looks like you are set Ernie. have a great time! CL
Cant keep up with all the horse trading in this thread...seems like you started out with a shtland pony and ended up with Man-O- War. Always liked the look of that Ruger Gun metal Gray finish. If Cerakote had been as popular 25 years ago, the old 250 would never have gotten a Bluing job. Bet...
