Jim this one seems to have a tight spot with the actuation rod in the back and the roller on the operating handle. Sometimes it will bind and sometimes it won't. I don't know if it is supposed to or not or if a piece of lead shot has worked in behind it is causing the end of the rod to bind on...

Just a little advice while it's at the smith I would have a new recoil pad installed also since the factor Rem pad can be hard as a brick. That 35 Whelen Classic I sold you brought tears to my eyes the first time I shot it before I changed the pad, that 300Wby will make your eyes cross.
