I like to start out long , then I only have one way to go , that's shorter . I start out at the max length that my rifle allows . that length will be either the bullet touching the barrel lands , or the magazine box length . I'll find the length to touching the lands and go 0.010 shorter ...
my Mother turned 84 this past Friday . lives by herself . I was asking her what she's been doing since the weather warmed up , she's been raking gravel out of her front yard . she told me that she needs the exercise , and doesn't want my help . I think she's nothing but grit and gristle . :)
Mark , you're going to love the dasher . your early targets don't surprise me at all . these things shoot . I got to play with one , one day . I'm guessing around 2008 , I met up with Bobby Hart at a long range shooting seminar in S.Carolina . I forgot my sleeping bag there , and called Bobby...
Mark , I have this drop tube funnel . I use it all the time, I'd have to look for my regular funnel . it did seem a little awkward at first , but using it is smooth as silk now . so far it works on everything I've tried it on , .222 - .338 ...
I do not cam over . I set the die low enough it can't . I push the brass up firmly into the die , and hold it a second or two , that's it .
there is no reason to use great force with the collet die . all you're trying to do is squeeze the neck until it's snug against the mandrel . once the...
to me a big heavy scope , on a range gun , needs a picatinny rail and rings .
you can stack coins between the rifle and scope to get an idea of how high it needs to be . then if you can get the height of the rail , you'll be able to figure out what height of rings you need .
I have the RCBS bullet puller . I use the Redding T 7 press . the RCBS with the T handle doesn't work on a turret press ,without a bunch of wiggling around . the best way would be to remove the other dies . if I were to buy a bullet puller again , I'd get the Hornady .
I was out of elevation at 300 yards . I did shoot at 350 by holding over . I'm not just sure what I had on for wind correction , what Mark has posted looks about right .with the new rail and another scope I should be able to dial out to the 450 yard target . I need to test ammo , get my sig...
JD , if I have it figured right my set up will need 94.75 MOA at 500 yards . my lease short range goes out to 450 yards , that should take 81 MOA to reach it .
we stopped at 450 yard target , because we were getting high on the hillside backstop .
Nosler gives the usable case capacity , with a seated bullet . this is not the case capacity quickload uses .
to measure your case capacity ; take a fired case , do not resize it , let the primer in it . weigh this case . fill the case with water , to the top . fill it so it's flat...
your case water capacity of 47.1 grains is less than quickload has for the default capacity of 51.5 grain . this will lower your powder charge .
as always start low and work up , while watching for pressure .
my 22 rimfire is 56.5MOA at 350 yards . that's about the same as I dial my 338 Lapua at 2000 yards .
I got a better scope , and a 40 MOA rail , mounted up a few days ago . with a 50 yards zero , I have 92 moa of elevation . I think this will get me to our long rimfire target, 450 yards ...
