    Reloading 270 WSM

I sized the rounds for today so that I can barely feel the shoulder engage when the bolt closes. Stay tuned sports fans.

Why doesn't Nosler HBN Coat Their Bullets?

Send me a hundred or so bullets and I’ll coat them. You can load them and see how they perform for you. I don’t want anything to do it. I’ll send them back, and Maybe they’ll work for you.

Why doesn't Nosler HBN Coat Their Bullets?

Give the Tubbs HBN kit a try. Its inexpensive and a good way to get started. It doesn't have the steel BB's but they are verry cheep on Amazon if you want to use them. It will make a bullet squirt out of your fingers like wet watermelon seed.

Why doesn't Nosler HBN Coat Their Bullets?

I've had the most benefit with E-Tips. They build pressure quickly and HBN kind of evens that out.

Why doesn't Nosler HBN Coat Their Bullets?

I coat all my loaded bullets with HBN. I use .5 micron HBN and place small steel BB's in the jar with the bullets. It doesn't hurt the bullets and the steel BB's imbeds the HBN in the jacket surface more efficiently. I get little to no copper fouling, a small boost in velocity, and lower...

I’d die of a heart attack. Lol

So We Think We Are Pretty Good Shots, watch the Olympic Alpine Biathlon

Just finished watching the Alpine Biathlon. Man they are good to say the least. Over an hour of cross country skiing with their rifle slung across their back. Oh, and along the way they have to stop and shoot multiple times and targets with better accuracy than I’ve seen at some PRS matches...

    Reloading 270 WSM

I was under the opposite belief. When I close the bolt I can just barely feel the shoulder engage. I’ll keep sizing to keep this engagement. I’ll measure it with my headspace comparator and size to this measurement from now on. Thanks for the great information.

    Reloading 270 WSM

Thank you Mike for all the time you invested in the Quickloads. It’s greatly appreciated. I’m also going to measure the fired headspace and compare it to the headspace of a sized case to see if they size or maybe need annealed.

    Reloading 270 WSM

I'm starting ladders for two loads for this weekend. 1. 270 WSM, 145GR eldx, with RL26 2. Is the 130gr E-Tip, with Staball HD. 3 130gr Partition, with Staball HD I figure the 145gr ELDX will be a nice deer load, and the E-Tip and the Partition will be the anything that walks...

    Reloading 270 WSM

Thank you Mike. I appreciate it more than you can imagine. Thank you. I'm below the max's you show above so that makes me feel better. I've been lackadaisical to this point and haven't taken my chrono with me. It goes with me from know on. I prefer using the chrono results over eyeballing the...

    Reloading 270 WSM

I’ll figure it out. As far as suitable powders on hand go it’s Staball 6.6, IMR4831, IMR7828SSC, RL22, RL23, RL25, RL26, Staball HD. So I should be able to find something it likes. I think the Staball 6.5 will be too fast to use but included it anyway. The shorter fat case seems to give a more...

Speer 168gn Gold Dot in 300 WSM

I really like the 150gr GD’s in my 308 Win. Great deer bullet. They hold together great and are very consistent. Speer did have troubles with pressure spikes to begin with. Then they started coating the GD ‘s with HBN and that salved the problem. That’s why they have the matte finish from the...

    Reloading 270 WSM

Thanks Mike for the input. My RL23 load with Partitions is great. It’s an upper load I think, as it has 66gr of RL23 and a 130gr partition. As far as the other testing I’ve done proves the rifle much more sensetive to powder charges than book manuals say it should be. ….".i do have resistance...

    Reloading 270 WSM

Thanks for the response. My next step was going to get a Forster Go/No Go gauge, because the chamber feels snug when closing. What’s on more set. Lol I have also had to pay close attention to the OAL gauge, because book OAL’s have been long when chambered.

    Reloading 270 WSM

Just asking those that have worked with them. Are they super sensitive to pressure? I know you have to keep an eye on it no matter the round, but my Model 70 in 270 WSM seems extremely sensitive. For example, I’ll be at a mid book load, add .5 grain and them the bolt is very hard to lift. Cases...

    25 WBY RPM Dies

Send a few fired cases to Redding. They will hook you right up. I think dies will be offered if the round builds a following.
