    Hawaii... anyone?

I’ve hunted Guam in the South Pacific. In 18 months I killed 37 hogs and a 6 point Philippine Sambar Deer. All with my bow while still hunting on the ground. No blinds or hunting from trees. I was the Chief Conservation Officer for Andersen AFB from ‘93 to ‘95. The bow was a Golden Eagle...

    the jump or lack of...

I start at .020” if magazine length permits. After determining max load or node I’ll change seating depth to check impact on groups. It’s just my rule of thumb though, where I start. You can start longer or shorter if you prefer. Edit: it works great too. My last one shot group with a 7mm RM...

    Remington 742. Optic Choice ?

I’ve always thought they were really beautiful rifles. My dad had the exact same rifle, now it’s my daughter’s rifle. Still runs like a top.

    Rebarrel and Refinish Rem 783

I’m so far behind on projects right now I don’t even know where to start. I have this rifle, a Weatherby Vanguard Sporter II in 270 Win, and 2 AR’s from Bear Creek, and all 4 are new and haven’t been fired yet. 45 caliber round ball barrel for my Seneca that’s half finished, 4 powders I...

    Rebarrel and Refinish Rem 783

Oh well, it will end up going to one of my grandkids or daughters.

    Rebarrel and Refinish Rem 783

Most expensive “cheap” rifle I’ve ever seen. I think I need my head examined. Lol

    Rebarrel and Refinish Rem 783

45.3 grains of H4895 with 150gr Ballistic Tips shot really well from it before the work. I figured I’d start there. I also have TAC, CFE223, and LT-32 if for some reason it doesn’t like 4895. I’m leaning towards 150gr PT or E-Tip loads with the added barrel length. Edit: I’m going to have to...

question on neck bulge 30-06: RESOLVED

Are you sure that they didn’t put a 270 Win die in your die set by mistake?

question on neck bulge 30-06: RESOLVED

You may not be able to seat the bullet out to your lands. Doesn’t look like the neck is holding enough of the bullet.

Converting AR to Bolt Gun Load data

You’ll be fine. The pressure limits are to save the BCG as pressure cycles it. You can use a good adjustable gas block and get the same results by closing the gas port completely. Thereby stopping the bolt from cycling, it stays locked forward until you manually cycle it. Your bolt loads will be...

    Rebarrel and Refinish Rem 783

Thank you, I appreciate that very much. I may re-address the polish of the receiver. Not sure I want to break it down again.

    Rebarrel and Refinish Rem 783

I showed these to Dan a while back but never got around to posting them. I had McGowen build a 4140 26” 1:10 barrel in the white for my 308 Win. I kept the factory Magnum Sporter profile. I didn’t like the matte finish of the factory 783 action so I refinished it to a gloss finish and hot blued...

staBALL HD load data for 7mm rem mag

Believe it or not I’ve never used Accubonds. I’ve used everything else, BT’s, PT’s, E-Tips, ELD-X, Hot Cor’s, Gold Dots, Pro Hunters, CX’s, Interlocks, and even bulk Federal Power Shok’s. I have them all. More than I’ll ever use actually. The bulk Power Shok bullets hold together surprisingly...

    Sticking cases in die

Now that I said that the next round I size will probably stick. Lol

    Sticking cases in die

I use the thick liquid Hornady case lube on an ink pad. Roll the cases on the ink pad, case lube lasts forever, and I haven’t had a stuck case since switching to the ink pad 10-12 years ago. You can get dry ink pads on Amazon for near nothing. I roll 5-6 cases at a time. Spray lube works with...

    Federal’s 7mm Backcountry

I think I’m still going to sit back and observe this one for the time being. There is sooooooo much room for Darwin and natural selection to work a little overtime on this one. Guaranteed that someone will try and run it full power with ‘06 family brass. Probably wouldn’t be an issue if it were...

    Federal’s 7mm Backcountry

LOL, I was kidding to begin with about using the bottle jack to size cases, but it’s looking more and more viable. Sooooooo, I may as well have fun with it 🤣🤣🤣 Putting in my order now. I want a hydraulic progressive press, with an electric pump so my arms don’t get tired pumping the jack. Pure...

    Federal’s 7mm Backcountry

For camshafts there was a lot of things that went in the mix. We used in different quantities, red pig iron, grey iron, chromium, copper, magnesium, and carbon to get the right alloy. I’m sure the cartridge case is more complicated.
