Whenever they release the 700LH BDL later this year (maybe) I'd like to grab one. They seem to be a well built rifle.

Those recesses are there because the action screws come through a proud part of the action. When I had a tikka I bedded the lug area and the tang and that was that. Was just as accurate as if I'd bedded the entire action. I also emphasize that you should pillar bed the action as well. Can't hurt.
They're expensive. I'd rather have experimented with the new HHT than buy the older design, even if it's proven to work. I am by no means into the newest and shiniest thing, but like you said -- they spent a lot of time on it and I'd like to test it for myself. Right now it'll be a while til I...
