Like I mentioned, it's due to timing with my work more than anything else. Over the years that's just what has came to be, but has not been an issue for me since getting away from Reloader powders and any ball powder. It's also nice to know my loads do me well in such diverse conditions.
I pay close attention to this because I do so much shooting in 75-90 degrees and a lot of testing. When hunting season comes around for me, it's my busy season at work and I get much less time to test or work on new loads. When I test at 80 degrees then hunt at 20, that shift was very real for...
Enjoy your time and the weather! haha
I'm not sure what all your wife and you are into, but my Great Aunt owns a tour company in Tucson. It's a Jeep tour and they show a lot of historic sites, do camps and provide food. It's a really need ride and very educational. It's called Trail Dust...
I must be lucky, these prices don't look that great for me, especially for a "sale". The stores around me have these prices for everyday purchase haha.
WLRM are my favorite primer with 215GM right behind it! It's always nice to test primers, that is typically the last thing I adjust when trying to dial a load in. I've found speeds to not change by much, but I have seen ES dial in nicely with primer changes.
It's probably all feeding to China and Israel anyway.. I just don't trust any of it and don't think we should be investing so much in it. If it works out the way they state, people will no longer think for themselves... they will just ask the AI.. no more research, no more educating and...
I won't use the AI stuff or even put it on my phone. I've seen all the Terminator movies... Arnold is not in the same shape he was back in 1984, so he won't be near as much help!
Thank you for the detail and sharing what has worked for you. I have a number of great loads for this cal and my 7 mags are all shooters (especially this Tikka). All of my loads have been hunting rounds, Ballistic Silvertips, Accubonds, Accubond Long Range, Partition, TTSX, and Nosler...
Thanks for sharing! When i take my wife or kids out we only have one set of sticks because it's all I can carry reasonably. There have been times two shooters would work out. I may get one of these and stick on the Bogs. Thanks for the link JD!
I tried H1000 today. ES and SD are not where I need them and my speeds are too high. I'm thinking I need to possibly find another powder. I don't want a lot of empty case. I'm going to check my case capacity tonight with water then try the seated bullet test to see what capacity I really...
I started using N160 as a substitute for RL19. I'm actually very happy with it, burns cleaner for sure. I would have to check the charts again, but I'm pretty sure it lands right between 17 & 19. N560 is just a touch slower than 19. The short barrel can be handy in thick hunting conditions...
I've had good luck in a 280 with slow powder and mag primers, but not with a 19" barrel. N560 may do you well, or the powders JD mentioned. His load seems to consistently do well in the accuracy mark.
Thank you, that is what I experienced today. They all came out clean and none of them are showing this purple/bluish coloration to it. I've never seen this just from shooting though. I thought it was odd.
I feel like we are on the same page here.
I'm chasing the most consistent, repeatable round over speed for sure. In anything I do, that is my goal with my reloads. That was a big reason I mentioned I wanted to check some charts and see what the little bit of extra speed gives me as far as...
