I run Peterson in most all of my rifles at this point. I have slowly been switching over. all of my 7 mags are now Peterson brass. Wish I would have grabbed the long before getting this far in it. If what they say is true about the long version, those benefits are appealing to me for sure...
I lived in the Pittsburgh area back in those days. I did a lot of PPC shoots with 1911's before we decided to make our own basketball team with kids. The only indoor ranges was Trafford Sportsman in Monroeville. I've never done any centerfire pistol shootings.
I got big game for Maddie’s 7-08 and found it to be temp sensitive, but not to the extremes I’ve heard about some of these spherical powders, magnum and grand being two big ones.
I've heard (never tested this) it's very temperamental to ambient temp swings. You essentially have to load it in the same conditions you plan to shoot. Is it really that bad though?
This one is great, the one I prefer is the SuperTrickler. You don't need a tablet or phone to use it as it's all in one and loading/unloading powder from the hopper is 10 times easier. They are both awesome options. You can get the Supertrickler with an FX or FD scale as well.
It's worth...
I will look into that for sure. I've been hunting for decades, we just never went out west. Western US and Africa are now on my hit list and I know for both of these, I need to extend my range. That is the purpose here. The local shoot I'm doing is IBS style, but it's not sanctioned or...
He would without a doubt be better off just buying a factory round, especially for his expectations haha... but I'm past that part unfortunately lol.
I have his once fired brass with me and I ordered new Norma brass earlier today (it's in stock at my LFS and not Hornady or Winchester stuff). I...
I certainly tried to differ, one of my little brothers live in the same town and the other is the next town over. Both of them reload as well, just aren't as far along in the reloading venture as I am. Either of them would have been able to put together what is wanted here for sure.
All good points for sure. I'm in the camp ready to try one out. I already have a few short barrel rifles and no suppressor on them, I like the lightweight, and the compact set ups are much easier in my application than my 24-26 long barrels in big heavy guns. I still love those for sure and...
That's a really good point. The rep from Weatherby was telling us the cartridge is taking on most of the new assignment but there are still slight modifications to the rifles themselves. He did not expand on what those changes were. You bring up a good point on this though and i would venture...
Here is what the Berger Twist App shows for the bullets I am considering. Let me know your thoughts.
Typical shooting conditions for this hunt is sub 20 degrees, elevation is roughly 1200'
These are two of the bullets Berger recommends for my gun spec; 150 Hunter
168 Hunter
This is...
Almost exact same boat I am in here. My Dad's friend is a leisure hunter and only after whitetail and hogs. I don't know if he will ever shoot the gun at paper and is after hunting groups. If he was after precision I would absolutely require the gun here with me. You did say something I do...
Thanks much Guy, I certainly agree. I do not know what the conversation was that he and my Dad had to bring them to this conclusion. When I told Dad the appeal of reloading is dialing a round in for the exact rifle and the accuracy from it is having that exact rifle and this probably wasn't a...
I don't disagree at all. This means i would need to bring the rifle to me here in PA, or my reloading down to my Dad in TX. I know this is the better way, just wasn't sure if there was a work around as both of those options aren't the best.
This is all great information and certainly a direction to go if I would pursue things further. I appreciate the detail and the time you took outlining this for me. I'm going to pin it for myself as a reference as well.
I should have explained a little better. My intention in this is more...
According to the Berger Twist calculator it’s saying my 1:9.5 barrel can’t stabilize that bullet consistently. I was really set on the 168g Hybrid initially. What are your thoughts on that calculator and how well it matches up to real world? I worry about consistency.
