I like this one!
Some other things I'd look at if it were me... 325WSM, 338Fed, or better yet... 6.5WSM. Although you mentioned the 7-08 for the little ones. That is what my daughter's been shooting. Really is a well mannered round.
I'd be looking for a barrel or two as well. Any brass I have that has the bulge gets tossed. I've gone to an aftermarket barrel in my 27 and now, no more bulge. Since it creates a weak spot on the brass (that spot is getting worked more than the rest of the case), I'd prefer to not chance...
Hubcap, I've always been a big city person (grew up in LA for 18 years, Phoenix for 6 years, LA for 4 more years, then we hit OR winding up in the Eugene/Springfield area for about 5 years). A few years in, we headed to Boise to visit some friends and we loved it. Moved here just a year or two...
Did you see this one???

That would change the state's constitution regarding militias. It would change the definition of the composition of a militia from males 18 to 45 to read any person 18 and older. Furthermore, it eliminates verbiage...
I gotta tell ya Scotty, the old saying that beauty is only skin deep doesn't just apply to people. My wife and I were enamored with OR when we moved there from the LA area back in 03. We were off the I-5 corridor which pretty much takes you up the west end of the state past all the beautiful...
It would be a short 265 mile relocation to get to ID! There are many companies that are having their convictions backed into a corner and some of them are fighting back. Magpul being the first to come to mind in Colorado. They told legislators that if CO passes restrictive new gun laws that they...
I'm not opinionated one way or the other on Sierra. I do have more Sierra bullets than I know what to do with. I grew up in SoCA and lived not too far from Santa Fe Springs. My old man used to go over and buy seconds. Back then I guess they used to sell them in plain brown paper sacks. I just...
I just finished the article, aside from the praise of that old boring round  it was a great read and ended up about where I expected with Marlin on top. I was surprised by the mag issue with the Ruger and especially surprised by the stock comparison between the two... Well done!
I thought about those PTs but with only 2 items to choose from as of right now, I doubt there's enough to make it worth the shipping. Incredibly slim pickins as of late.
I think that Z3 would be a dandy on top of that rifle. I just finished putting a Minox 2-10 on top of my 375 African. I like those scopes in general but you are definitely looking at the superior scope. I'd suggest you make sure the scope has a reticle that will take full advantage of the scope...
This is one I've been toying with the idea of. As to other options, I'm not sure of its viability on deer, but a friend in OR just finished up a 458 SOCOM.
So no real surprises in the responses I see. I don't use a spotter as often as I should or could. What I have right now was given to me as a Christmas present by my FIL several years ago... a NcStar. Since I've been digging myself out of the gutter of optics, I have really been seeing why I...
Just need some opinions on the Vortex Impact RA 25-75x70 spotter. A local fella has one for sale for $125. It seems to be bottom level Vortex and I'm not sure if it's worth the $125. Similar to this one on Ebay...

Be looking to mainly...
I appreciate the input. I guess I'll shoot it and not worry about it. Oddly, this is the first rifle that I've had this happen on. On a related note, about two years ago I had finished building my first AR and knew next to nothing about those silly Barbie dolls for men. Not knowing any better, I...
As mentioned earlier on in the thread, I wound up with a Ruger m77 Hawkeye African in 375Ruger. After mulling over scopes a bit, I went with the Minox 2-10x40 #4. CLNY shipped me the scope, but wound up shipping me a 50mm instead of a 40mm... not that I'd mind, but I already had the rings and...
Charlie, it is a 20" bull barreled AR for little varmints and paper punching, so yes... kind of a target rifle. My other AR wears a little 3x Nikon and my next build will likely be an open sight rifle.
After taking what seemed like an eternity to settle on a scope for my bull barreled Varmint AR, I finally got one ordered and it just showed up a few minutes ago. Mounts should be here tomorrow, though
Went with a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44 with a RapidZ 800. CLNY didn't show...
My son and I along with one of my friends went shooting some clays yesterday.... (I know its shotgun related, but we don't have a SG area here and figured this is general enough to fit in here). I recently picked up a Lefty 870 Express with a wood stock for my southpawed son. After several boxes...
