Was reading about them recently...
When I bought my first Kimber 1911 (45ACP), I went with a version with that same rounded grip at the bottom, and found that it reacted differently in my hand during recoil. I didn't care for it. DrMike bought it from me, and my current Kimber (10mm) has the...
At first, the 338 RPM appealed to me as well...
While not a true apples-to-apples comparison:
When I look at the powder burned in a 24" vs 18" barrel with a 225 gr AccuBond, you get 2800 fps vs 2660 fps (loss of approx. 23 fps/inch), and then look at my 338-06 with a 215 gr bullet getting 2750...
With a Cerakoted action and metal work, I wouldn’t worry about the metal being chrome moly or stainless.
Should you scratch or ding the Cerakote, it is an easy fix by those that offer the service. The older powder coat could allow moisture in under the coating, but Cerakote doesn’t.
While I do not have the 375 Ruger, I have it's little brother, the 376 Steyr.
I have not taken game with the factory ammo with the 270 gr Interlock, or its 225 gr lighter load; I have shot both in my rifle (custom LH Ruger M77 Mk II), they do shoot pretty well. The 270 gr ammo produces groups of...
I did not note in my first post of this thread, but for most of my reloading, I did not have a chronograph. Once I had one, I was able to verify what my loads were actually producing. Now that I have my Garmin, life has gotten even better, as my old chrony did not prove to be as reliable as I...
Always loved that version of the Model 7! Too bad they didn't build it in left hand!
Still, I probably wouldn't pass on one in 250 Savage or 257 Roberts should I ever come across one...
I never did...but with QuickLoad now, I can see what the potential maximum will be in a certain load that has been typically downloaded, for a pressure known to be safe in my action e.g., 65,000 psi in my Sako 85 for the 6.5x55 or the Rem 700 for the 280 Rem.
As stated above, in the end, I still...
Nice!
Best of luck on your bison hunt!
It will be a memorable experience!
Keep your shots to 1/3 up the body behind the front leg; the vitals are lower than one would think on such a large animal.
Here's wishing everyone a safe and Happy Holiday Season!
May Santa bring you all of your dreams and wishes!
As you lay snug in your beds, may visions of ________________ (insert here your wish for new rifles, scopes, cartridges, bullets, etc., and new adventures with family and friends) be...
While I have only shot a 350 Rem Mag once, it definitely had more felt recoil than the three 35 Whelens that I have shot over the years.
I know there were a number of guys building lightweight rifles in this caliber in the late 80s and early 90s, and you quickly saw them in the used racks...
Do you remember the old Federal ammunition ad about a single box of ammo that had accounted for 19 elk? Or was it deer?
I recall as a kid when grandpa got us the 22LR (Winchester Model 69A that a family friend gifted us when we moved to the family farm when I was 11), and the .410 (new...
Regardless of what rifle I take hunting, my BLR in 358 Win is usually in the back seat of the truck, for backup, and if there is any chance of having to perform follow ups in the thick timber. (It is so handy!)
One must remember that a lot of information comes from marketing hype that internet wizards like to jump on and repeat without first hand experience to verify actual results.
Trust, but verify.
As Ernie stated above, you have to perform the work yourself to know what the real world results will...
