We have hours upon hours of calling and driving @ night hunting yotes. We have yet to use anything but a standard white light. The majority of our yotes here have been shot at once or 6 times in their life, so the sight of a vehicle, they have hit 6th gear with the turbo's fully spooled!

Either the 125pt or 130ab would work fine on cow elk.
The 130AB out of our .260 is our late season cow elk pill of choice - They work great.
Congrats on the tag and good luck !
The .260 is a fantastic round for what you have mentioned. I actually have two of them in my safe - would consider 3 if you'd tell me where this Sako is that you're eyeballing
As .257 Ackley mentioned - RL-19, H-414, N-140 & N-560 have all given me good results.
The 100 / 120 B-tips...
I was born and raised in the north west corner of Colorado - we had nothing to do but hunt.
The first pic is back in 1976 when I was 5yrs old - I remember standing in the back of my Dad's truck with that bull like it was yesterday. What caliber - 7-Mag. Over the next several years I watch both...

Mine pre-dates those that you speak of. It's a stainless synthetic version - can't say for sure, but think it was only a one or two year run on these. ADL type action - B&C I believe makes a drop in Alaskan for it.

Great Choice !
There are several calibers out there I haven't been a fan of "until I tried one" The .270 was one of them, but I was on the hunt for one just to fill the "numerical" gap between my .260 & .280. I found another one Sportsmans I believe had mismarked - Vanguard SUB-MOA in...

Impressive "little" round - I never have shot any @ 50yds, have always been 100yds and
find the 130AB's in jug #5 usually from the .260
Can't wait to see how the load development comes along.

I have both the .260 & 7-08 in my safe, both exactly the same platform short of the .260 having a one inch longer tube. My 7-08 is a tack driver and my safe queen, however I'd take the .260 elk hunting hands down before my 7-08.
If you want a little more than the .260 the 6.5-284 would...
Every safe should be blessed with a .280  This is a great round and as already mentioned a wide selections of bullets are available.
Mine is a Rem 700 Mtn Rifle - high country hunts it always makes the trip. Mulies & Elk, not a problem for this round.
Fantastic cousin you have !

That is close to my old stomping grounds, I was born and raised in Meeker. My Dad is still there, however I've jumped to the other side of the state where it's flat.
Most of my hunting anymore is done where the deer, elk, sheep and goats share close to the same grounds. We...

I believe the run off will just get started this week. Some of high country received a couple more feet of snow just a few weeks ago. They claim 200+% above normal averages in some of the areas.
Trailridge road & Mt. Evans didn't get opened this year for Memorial Day weekend -
I can't find the article on this one - Greg used to have a write up about this as well. Don't quote me here, but want to say something about spring kink something or the other.

It's hit as far south as CO. Our central mountains have been hammered this year. Not sure yet what the outcome of the fawn and calf crop will be due to they usually head for lower ground during the worst of the winter months.
They are expecting some rather large flooding within the...

Good luck when you get back for the season. I've only heard this third party type of sources, however............ I've heard they will be cutting back the number of left over tags this year for elk ????
You're right - I'm sure some areas end up with more orange than elk. This is...
My Rem 700 VTR has a 1-9 twist that likes the 60gr B-tips. Can't say however I'd recommend that gun to anyone.
However  We have a new indoor gun range next to my place that I stopped at a few weeks ago. They have on the shelf some Remingtons I've never seen before and actually a few...
