Scotty -
Nice looking stock! Keep looking at those for my VTR and havent' done it yet - I'm interested in what you think of it. Keep me posted.
Oh ya - ummmm....... remember what happened when I had to go and play with switching stocks on my .257 Bee when I alreayd had a good load for...
Thanks -
They snuck them in there a few days early.
Drew high country archery deer with my hunting buddy - hopefully by Sept the snow will be gone
Don -
Fantasitc looking group. As all the others have stated, I wouldn't worry much -
If you want more reading on the subject, Greg Tannel does a great explination.
Short of that - shoot it and have fun !

If you're comfortable with the .257 Bee, I'd say go for it. This caliber is a laser and with a good bullet it can be very effective. My Wife put this cow on the ground @ about 425yrds last Dec with a 115gr BT through the top of the shoulders. ( Can't say it's my first choice bullet, but my...
I've settled on IMR 7828 & 115 B-tips for mine at the moment.
The 110AB's actually shot really well for me until I had to go mess with something that wasn't broken
I would imagine you have excessive free-bore, so magizine length may be your determining factor?
There will always be the caliber controversy, however the 7-08 has to rank right up in the top caliber choices for any N/A deer hunting.
Bullet selection is short of stellar - load options goes well beyond that. There are many reduced recoil loads available to get new and young shooters...
Just handled my first Savage in this platform last week. Went in more on a curiosity thing just to see if they had a .260 - Nope. Instead it was a 6.5x284 Kind of have teh shakes and twitches now -
Kelly-
A definate welcome Neighbor ! Great looking pics - Elk & Sheep definately two on the tops of my list.
But those last pics.... a Remington without a scope.....????
I'd say I've had ok luck with them, nothing stellar by any means. I'm really blaming the plastic fantastic stock I have on this gun I've been shooting them in.
POP had a link, or it's probably on Berger's Site - The VLD's are very finicky about seating depth. The article is very good at...
Mike
Unfortunately you and me both. It shoots just under a minute of pie plate. This is one of the first 260's Rem came out with and has the shorter barrel to boot.
The best group I've seen came with 43.0 gr of H414 & 130gr AB's and shot 5/8 inch @ 100.
I've had a few others just slightly...
I can only offer up a pair of .260's - both work fantastic on elk
Model 7 youth for the wife & soon to be big enough son. 12X Leupy on top
Model 700 BDL Varminter W/ 25in tube I had built for my Dad. 16X Leupy a-top.

Believe it or not, I purchased a set of electronic muffs off the Snap-On tool truck a few years ago. Believe I gave less than $50 bucks for them and they work fantastic.
My RUM has a vias brake which isn't all that terrible as you know. My .280 however I had a guy in MT do years ago -...

Might I suggest running yourself through the chrony first to get a baseline i.e. before & after coffee readings
Man that is frustrating when you know you pull one and want to see nice little clover leafs !
Fantastic though - 3300fps. Wish I could see that with the .260...
3006
The 270wsm is a sweet little round for sure. I have always pretty much bled Remington green, however couldn't pass up a Vanguard Sub moa in this caliber when I believe they priced it wrong.( It's the only Wby in my safe ) It's been fairly easy to reaload for and shoots under an inch all...
We all know where I'm going with this -
The .260 is a sweet little round and proven itself very well for my family. IMO - recoil of the .260 is less than that of it's bigger brother the 7-08. The high B.C. of the 6.5 makes for
a deep penetrating bullet.
With that said - very hard to beat...
3006 - Congrats on the new 7-08.
As you know, they are generally very easy to load for and with minimal work you can end up with some fantastic results.
Mine is the same way - Rem 700 Varminter - It's taken its fair share of late season cows over there with eveything from the 120bt to 150gr...
