Bonded means exactly that, the core is chemically "glued" to the jacket so it will not slip or separate. I prefer this to the NBT ofr any big game hunting.
Nothing wrong w/ the AB. It's not unusual for diff. bullets to print to a diff. POI. I see this all of the time. The barrel, bedding & bullet shape all affect downrange perf. Get a load you like & sight your rifle for it. You can't really expect to switch ammo / bullets & have the exact POI...
The .375h&h is a great old cart. than can just about do it all. I prefer it in a good bolt action, then it is usefull for DG hunting. Try 4064 & RL15 w/ the lighter bullets & 4350 & RL19 for the heavy weights.
I feel 4350 is a bit fast for the highest vel. in the 7mag w/ 160gr bullets. I like RL22 & IMR7828. Vel. w/ 160gr bullets in my 26" bbl. were running right @ 3100fps, accuracy was 1moa or slightly better.
No disrespect but your shot proves nothing about the bullets performance. If you are head shooting deer you could use a .22lr & kill them pretty dead. The NBT is a good bullet if impact vel. stays below 2700fps IMO, form my own tests & friends who hunt w/ them. Good shooting BTW.
Very nice buck. Do you mean 160grNABs? I'm headed to Montana this weekend w/ my .280 for a couple lopes. I'm using 145gr Speer for this trip. I like the 160gfr bullet for an allround laod & my M70 shoots nice 1" groups w/ the 160gr NP over 57gr IMR7828 for about 2825fps from the 23"bbl.
H4831 is great w/ 140gr but for the 150-160, I like RL22 or IMR7828. Accuracy is exc. w/ about 100fps more vel. 4350 is just too fast for the optimum results in the bigger case. H870 is very accurate but used to be pretty dirty back when I tried it. H1000 is also supposed to give good results...
Jaywalker, you need to let the chamber cool down on hot days especially if you are shooting near max. loads. When you chamber a round things start heating up very quickly, brass transfers heat quite well.
I know you wante d Nosler to reply, but I have had great luck w/ RL22 & IMR7828 in the 7RM under 160gr bullets. Very accurate & faster than the 4831 loads.
RL19, H4350 & IMR4831 are all good choices in the .338wm. I agree about the use of std. primers, I get better accuracy using a std. or match primer. For better accuracy, try the non moly bullets. I find them more accurate.
Just as note, every rilfe is different. Everyone I talked to said RL22 was great in the .280. Mine only didd so-so. When I switched to IMR7828, bingo, groups half the size & going a bit faster w/o pressure signs too. Good luck.
If you just want to take a back up rifle, any that you mentioned are fine. I would hunt thick stuff w/ the .375. If you are worried about your 260grNAB, switch to a partition & not worry much about it. The problem w/ hunting w/ only a brush gun like the Marlin, is you're bound to come across a...
I agree w/ jd, pick a load & use just one. It would be hard to beat the 210grNP as an all round deer/elk load. I use it in my .338-06 w/ great success, only recovered one from dozens of animals, many the size of elk. Try H4350, IMR4831 or RL19 under the 200-210gr.
Thanks for sharing, it looks like the TBBC needs a bit more vel. to get penetration up, they are a tough bullet.
Lefty, intersting about your exp. w/ the 154grHIB. I have tried them in my .280 & 7mm Dakota w/ several diff. powders & they are awfull for accuracy. I wish Nosler made a 150grAB.
