Overall it wasn't bad of a wait, the longest pole was the barrel, and IF I hadn't wanted the 400 Mod BB so badly, I could have ordered that from Bugholes or Redhawk and had it in a week.
From yesterday, the last 3 rds at 220yds while finishing barrel break in:
.223 Lapua brass, mixed lot...
Just about finished with my 223AI project. The stock arrived yesterday, got it mounted and added a spare scope today. Still on the search for one I want🥺 The loner is bore-sighted and hopefully I'll start break-in his week.
Specs:
Action: Impact Precision 737R
Barrel: Bartlein 24" 400 Mod B...
Speer 180 HotCor at 2600 (19" barrel) broke the off leg and kept going. I've used yhis bullet/load on 4 hogs now and only recovered one that was quartering towards me at 10'. It penatrated into the hind quarter:
Pretty excellent, surprisingly so.
I would have thought it'd be like grass fed beef, but it's actually way better.
I used my Rem M7 in 350rem Mag launching a 250NPT at 2599FPS at 117yds. Complete penetration, she took a few steps and fell over. About 700lbs (cow) on the hoof.
Past weekend at a friends lease in OK, REM 7600 rebore to 358Win with a SightMark Mini-Wraith at 130yds, was prepared for low-light, but she came out in daylight.
I took a different approach with my 21' long bench.
I sort of lucked out by having a friend that's a cabinet maker. The one thing I didn't want was closed cabinets as I end up opening up doors to find stuff. My reloading area is under my 3 car garage with a vault door and has its own zone on...
You can also use a short cartridge 7600 since the action is the same and the magazine determines the cartridge length. Have JES rebore it and find some long cartridge magazines.
I solved it the old fashioned way by just moving my target stand back to 150 yds (358Win for pigs) and using the standard zeroing method. It would be nice to just figure out how to do an offset though.
Not mine, it's a Sightmark Min-Wraith and other than the 1 shot zero feature it zero's and shoots like a normal scope, no ability to calculate and correct for distance.
I finally have to admit I can't wrap my head around this. Anybody have experience in zeroing a digital scope with an offset? IE. 1.5" high at 100 for a 200yd point of impact. There's got to be a way to use the 1 shot zero, but instead of POA = POI, POI is 1.5" higher than POA.
Ideas??
In the process of having a 223AI built now, for a combination practice rifle and coyote rig.
So far I've got:
Bartlein Mod B 1:7.5 .224 24" fluted Sendero profile.
Impact Precision 373R
Manners MCS-LRH-SC Sport Comp Stock
TriggerTech Diamond
MDT M5 precision bottom metal.
Barrel is being...
Especially if your minimal sizing to fit another rifles chamber.
I've also never had an issue using FL dies in a 7600. In my 358Win I partial FL size for that rifle.
Honestly I end up over book max probably 95% of the time.
If you use the OCW method of load development, your test loads at least will be 1 increment above the average of 3 max book loads.

Sure.. it started out as a 20" barreled MS from the custom shop:
That weighed 8lbs all up with a Swarovski 1.25-4X. With it I killed a couple elk, some deer and a few pigs. It was a little heavy for what I wanted as I aged (gracefully, I might add), and showing its age with wear. So I had it...
It's definitely a "carry more than shoot" rig. Not something that's fun off a bench, but from field positions it's really not that bad.
I put it together while stationed at Ft. Lewis for elk. With 225s and 200s, it's not bad at all, the 250s at 2599 are definitely an eye opener. This load is...
Not a 35W, but I've been playing with CFE223 in my 350RM with Nosler 250PTs.
20" barrel, Rem 350 brass, FED 215s and 2599 FPS at 45F, just over 1MOA at 100yds with an 8X scope. I can go slightly higher, but right now ina sub 7lb carbine it's all the fun I can stand.
