I'm running 57.0 gr. of RL-17 with the 130 gr. BT at a LOA of 3.378 in my 24" barrel M700 and getting 3234 fps and 1/2 MOA accuracy.
I'm saving my last kernels of RL-26 for my 25-06.
The rifle has a 20" 1/6.5" twist barrel and the COL would be 2.260"
It shoots 80 gr. Berger VLDs really well, but it looks like the 88 gr. ELDM will do better at 1000 yards from a ballistics perspective.
Thank you in advance.
John
I'm trying too use this same bullet in my CZ 527 Grendel, glad to see how it performs.
I can get nearly 2500fps, but accuracy has eluded me.
Did you have similar issues?
I would appreciated any hints, tips, or load suggestions.
Winchester M88's in 358 are an incredible combination of rifle and cartridge. The only 358 downside is that all M88 barrels share the same contour, so the barrel heats up rapidly when you're at the range testing loads. I have a hunting grade M88 in 308 that I plan to have re-bored to 338-08/338...
My 338 has a long throat, so my COL is 3.508"
72 gr. gives me 2650 fps
I've loaded well above that just to see if there was an accuracy node to be had.
I stopped at 75 gr. which did 2760 fps, but was too hot for use.
I have pre-64 Winchester 88s in every factory caliber.
The triggers aren't the greatest, but they instinctively point like shotgun.
Perfect for hunting in cover where quick shots are needed.
Here's my concluding post. On my last trip to the range I tried 26.0 and 27.0 gr. of Unique with the same 120 gr. Hornady SSP bullet.
26.0 gr. 2349 fps.
27.0 gr. 2398 fps.
The goal was effectively achieved and accuracy at 50 yards was better than I expected.
I looked at Blue Dot, but it used more powder than the Unique loads and was below 50% of the case volume.
I used 13 gr. of Blue Dot and a 60 gr. Hornady SP in my 223 to fill my freezer a couple years ago.
I live in a rural area outside of Eugene with a such a huge excess of does that ODFW has a controlled hunt for the area.
I try to limit the noise when putting meat into the freezer combined with a need for a DRT shot placement, which has lead to some interesting hunting loads over the years.

I stopped by the Albany Sportsman's Warehouse on Sunday as their website shows a bunch of different primers as being available
There are no primers at the store and they haven't had any for some time, per the gun counter staff.
They tried to pawn if off as an error with the inventory software...
