...so Ray, now that you've 'built' a few, & shot a few, what do you think about your foray into 'Handloading"???

    Boddington, on recoil

...on a 'personal note', I find it almost impossible to separate recoil w/ "Muzzle Blast". W/ a good shooting position, proper 'cheek weld', etc., 'recoil' should be fairly manageable in most 'normal' calibers. 'Muzzle blast' & the associated concussion is what really causes a 'flinch', puts...

    Rifle for the wife

...Let's face it, w/ the ammo, bullets, powders available, "cartridge" has become 'secondary, don't worry as much about the caliber as the actual rifle. Find sumpthin she likes, that fits her well, that will take care of most of the recoil. From your description, Id probably favor the Creedmoor...

How do you shoot your 3006 ?

...'bull bag' lined up w/ the target, squeeze the rear bag for 'fine' windage & elev. adj. Used properly, the bull bag minimizes muzzle jump & helps reduce recoil...

...rigs are like little boys, Dr. Mike, if they didn't wash off, nobody'd have 'em. I 'stretch' my grouse breasts by making 'Grouse Fried Rice'. Cut the breasts into strips, stir-fry w/ garlic & ginger, throw whatever's in the fridge, julienne carrots, onions, broccoli, cauliflower, peppers...

    Elk knockdown

...elk aren't really a DRT proposition, they seem to have a tenacity that pales other critters. I've shot a lot of elk w/ a 7mmRM, some went down immediately, some ran a few yds., I've shot quite a few w/ a .300 WSM, some went straight down, some ran a little ways, I've shot a few w/ a .325 WSM...

    Speer Deepcurl discontinued?

...I tried to get data for the 140gr. Deep Curl from Speer, they said don't use 'em, tests were showing pressure problems & they were discontinued. I'd already worked up a good load w/ 'em. I don't think they've discontinued the Fusion ammo...

    Pipsqueak rifle

...well, honestly, I think something like the .25X45 Sharps or 6.5 Grendel would serve you better. Looking @ loads for the 6.8 SPC, the bullets used are marginal @ best for your intended use, very low BC's/ SD's. The Grendel may start off slower, but it beats the pants off the 6.8 past a couple...

    Partition or Accubond for moose

...certainly not an 'expert', but I've shot a couple & helped out on a couple more. One thing you have to remember is everything on a moose is farther down than it looks. The spine in the neck is in the bottom third, same w/ the heart & plumbing. Center shooting a moose is like shooting a 55gal...

    Burris custom Turret

...well contrary to magazine writers, flashy advertisements, & 'popular belief' there ain't no such critter as 'dial & shoot'. 29* @ 9500' instead of 59* would make the difference in drop 1" instead of 3", about the same w/ a 50fps. change in MV... ...the CDS is a 'Baseline' calculated from the...

    Soon, And Very Soon...

...the 8X68S sounds very 'Continental", but it's still faced w/ the same conundrum of MV/BC/SD. We need a better selection of high BC bullets to really let the 8mm's shine like they ought to... ...I'm certain this all hinges on Scotty's purchase...
