I don't know, I'm not saying the 458 Win mag wouldn't strike up conversations when you have it out, but how much would you really shoot it? And other than severely reduced loads with cast bullets, the recoil on a full house load would literally be 3 times what a 30-06 loaded full tilt with 180...
(y) We have a early muzzleloader season that is mixed in with archery. Doe only. Most everybody will be using inline, I'll be using this.
I'm visualizing a nice fat doe in the future, or a yearling doesn't matter. It would make me happy for sure. Neat rifle to me with some sentimental local...
It does seem odd but he's done it 100 times and knows what he's doing so I let him do what he knows to do. He took the barrel out , looked through it and said, yep I see why it's shooting low. Done some slight bending and kept looking through it and going back to bending until he was...
Just talking locally as that's the only way I've ever bought primers. Small rifle and pistol primers are showing up pretty regular. Large rifle and large rifle magnum is not coming in around here at all. Thankfully I don't need any so I wouldn't be buying anyways no matter what comes in unless...
I changed the scope out, then ordered a Mountain Tactical stainless recoil lug which is machined to tighter tolerances apparently on the specs that Tikka's are machined out to. That took away I'm gonna say 80% or better of the back and forth/side to side slop out of it. Those 2 things together...
Boy, reading comprehension matters. I read that initially as "I stopped shooting flyers when I started shooting 1" groups." Haha. Although either way would apply I guess.
For me, particularly in the last yr or so I've gotten pretty stringent about eliminating any second guessing or questions...
I've purchased exactly 1 firearm with a CC. Had the cash but for some reason used a card on that 1. It was not BOA but who knows which all cards give away info. All other firearm purchases were either cash, or in the case of online purchases I've made a few times, were with money orders.
So much I'd like to say, and in private I would. You're a better man than I am Guy, and so is everyone else that can deal with it. There is a line of where I can still maintain a sense of human dignity in the face of evil and depravity. Children are WAY past that line for me. Way past.
My wife and I were following this for quite a while now in interviews and discussions that were off the mainstream news cycle. Before we were even completely aware of the scope of what it was about it initially caught our attention because the lead actor is the same man in Passion of the...
Jim, in a situation like that, do you go off the speed or the load charge? I tend to go off the speed a charge is making when comparing, which even at that is showing over pressure, but would come out around 41.25 grains on the pressure that would produce that speed.
I don't believe it is a factory stock. I don't know any JC Higgins that came with rosewood endcap and grip cap. The fancier M51's did have checkering and a raised cheekpiece, but still not this kind of stock. Works for me.
I feel bad for whoever put the work into it years ago. That was a...
Tightness in the forearm. There is still no barrel clearance on either side the whole way down and I took a reasonable amount out. If I attempt anymore it will be very little at a time as it has shown all along it will put the first 2 pretty close, and now is even better and is not throwing a...
JC Higgins M50. Had 1 of these some time back and sold it. Had a couple other projects going on at the time and the few times I shot it, it didn't shoot that great so I moved it on. This one was a different animal. Much nicer stock, and compared to the previous M50 plus a same action FN...
Know absolutely nothing about the cartridge but man that is a good looking rifle with about as much eye appeal in the stock as you're gonna get. Very nice!
I'd do more than cough if I bought 5 lbs thinking it was 8. :D I can get powder local that is so close it's not typically worth the difference in price for the drive, but occasionally they have powder my local shops do not.
They most definitely did not have bricks of LR and LR magnum primers...
That's a shop I can drive to, but is not local. But I've gotten powder there already. The local shops that are my favorite and where I've gotten the bulk of primers and powder, most don't even have a website and if you were ever there you'd understand why. Oh, and if you're not from the area...
