Shotshell for 44 mag from krag and 444 marlin

Came across these in my Dad's stuff. Thought I had found everything of his that seemed unique. He took 30-40 brass and shortened and milled down the rim to fit 44 mag. Looks like #7 1/2 shot with a cardboard wad held in place by water glass.

Making some old cowboy loads for the flattop

10 rounds went bang. All bullets left the barrel. All on paper. So far so good.

Bullets can mean loaded cartridges to non pedants. Like a revolver can be a pistol. A clip can be a magazine. Great opportunity to mansplain. (That means "Man explaining")

How My Opinion on Farmers Evolved Over Time

Secretary of agriculture just announced there will be no amnesty for undocumented farm workers after all. Those on Medicaid will pick up the slack.

Latest on suppressor removal from 1934 FFL

It's just a referee and is controlled by the head of the senate. The Republican head of the senate apparently wanted the rules they agreed to, followed.

Latest on suppressor removal from 1934 FFL

Suppressors should be over the counter. It's a safety thing. If there is misuse then add penalties at a criminal or civil trial. However, do the legislation right. Craft a good bill, use all the support available and get it done. It seems like there is as much support and momentum for things 2A...

    Reloading Help 25-06

Hornady 117's, either sst or round nose and max charge of Imr7828 are also very good shooters.

    Reloading Help 25-06

Damp basement storage should be a plus. I have 4350 from the 1970's that works just like new and some Dupont Pistol powder from before that still goes bang. Check other variables. At our club range one of the benches is tilted and has a wobble. Sandbags instead of a bipod help but it's usually...

What's it cost these days to rebarrel a rifle?

Have a old Remington 722 short action. Curious about the 25 creedmore. What's involved? Who does good work?

    Reloading Help 25-06

My OAL is 3.29" However, if the factory load is working and using that bullet, I would use factory OAL, brass, and try to replicate that load.

    Reloading Help 25-06

A consistent load I have used was a 100 grain Nosler BT and IMR 4831. IMR 4350 works equally well.

Map of public lands to be sold under Senate Bill

Looks like it has been pulled for now. Needed 60% of the senate for this type of legislation on this type of bill apparently. A related order by Trump just came out to allow road construction, development and such on National Forest land in currently roadless areas. My Dad designed alot of the...

Loading Nosler 100 grain BTSP in .257 Roberts

I have similar issue with 7x57 on short action. I use flat base bullets, which work great. The Nosler partitions would likely be my first choice for big game. Sierra 87 grain varminter for small game is most accurate in 25 cal i have found. You might investigate the Hornady 117 round nose...

    150 vs. 165 (edited)

I like the 168 BT's for Mulies. Shots here run 30 to 450 yards. IMR 4895. Also have used 150 accubonds. At 30 yards made a mess of a front shoulder, tho I don't know if anything wouldn't have. W760. Slow, about 2400 fps from 18" barrel. Good accuracy with 178 ELD X and 180 Accubond, if I use...

Map of public lands to be sold under Senate Bill

This is a map of the national public lands in 11 western states that could be sold under the Senate version of the BBB. It's a huge amount of land. Much include important watersheds for city and agriculture. You can check and see if it is places you hunt or get your water, travel thru etc...
