Oh sorry then, my apologies. It works great for my 280AI anyway. I was thrilled to stumble upon that load so quickly. It's a new custom rifle, and last weekend I worked up a load for it. Seems every load shot well, but when I shot 60.5gn loads, it was the bee's knee's. Chisled that one in stone...
RL26 works great in my 280 AI. Great velocity, and the 150gn ABLR cut one ragged hole. So impressed with thia powder.

Running a 1:9 twist krieger barrel at 26 inches. So far it's been a typical krieger. Started my break in procedure with the first shot, and by my 15th shot all I was getting from the barrel after a good 15-20 minute soak was carbon and maybe the slightest hint of blue on my patch.
Came home and...
Shot my 280 AI with RL26 and the 150gn ABLR. seems that 60.5 - 61gns is where all the magic happens for accuracy. Thats where I found my beat group. One ragged hole. I also had my bullet seated at 3.340. Nosler has a winner with the ABLR out of my rifle. If it kills as well as it fly's, I'll be...
++1 and I'll even throw i. A Ditto on the berger hybrids, amazing bullet, and for hunting the elite hunter I think is suppose to be the hunting version of the hybrid. Shoot's great out of the wife's .243

Running a good load is right...I've been around a lot of 338 winnys, and to be honest with you, If you're getting that good of a result with your load now, I dont see what there is to gain by going faster if accuracy suffers.
I'll take a slower load that shoots lights out over a faster load...
Hey DrMike, I have no doubts they will be stone cold killers...what I was referring to as far as getting mixed reviews, was I've read reviews where some were having problems getting them to shoot, so I was hoping I wasn't going to be one of those with which they wouldnt work for. Glad to see...
To be honest, with the mixed reviews I was reading on the 150gn ABLR bullet, I was having some doubts they would shoot as well as the did. After shooting that .490 group, all that went away because I felt like I could fiddle with the seating depth enough to bring it on in.
After the .145...
Seat them deep. I started at a COAL of 3.340 and looks like I will stay there. Rifle seems to like a good jump with that bullet. I havent measured to the lands yet. I prefered ro wait untill the barrel is broke in. If I had to guess, I would say I'm jumping them around .09 - .1
At any rate...
Today I finally made it to the range to shoot my new custom 280 AI. started with a couple rounds loaded with 58gn of RL26. Took only two shots to get the scope zeroed. Velocity was 2790 for those shots.
Load was
Nosler brass
Nosler 150gn ABLR
RL26
Fed 210 primers
COAL 3.340
58.5 was at 2830...
Ok I finally got all my chores done. Scope is mounted, and ammo is loaded. Maybe next weekend I'll take her out for a dance.
The Nosler brass loaded great. I started with 58gns and loaded 3 rounds, loaded the next three 58.5 so forth and so on untill I reached 61.0gns
As good as the nosler...
Longrangehunter thanks for the advice.
I do appreciate it, but dont worry. When it comes to setting off a small detonation at the tip of my nose, I tend to excercise caution. This isn't something I'm unaccustomed to, I like to ask advice when it comes to a caliber which I have little experience...
I own a Howa 1500 in a 22-250 that shoots lights out even with that god awful trigger they put in them. Getting a timney for it. Shoots win supreme 55gns like no ones business.

So are we at a consensus that 58gn start 61gn max should be a good safe change? I will look at the velocity and allow that to help guid me. Looks like 3200 fps is a safe max, so if I see 3100 on the chrony, I can assume Im still under safe max with a little headspace. Unless I'm grossly...
