28 nosler with 160 ballistic tips

Since you have a lot of the Ballistic Tip loads with the same ballistic coefficients as the Accubond, you might consider pulling some of the Ballistic Tips and substitute 160 grain Accubonds for actual hunting. Use the rest for sighting in and practice. They both shoot the same in my 7mm Rem Mag.

7mm Rem Mag 160 grain Accubond load

My three friends and I used the 160 grain Accubond from our 7mm Mags at an average of 2950 fps to take 23 moose. It will certainly work on an elk and has. When IMR7828 first became available, Finn Aagaard wrote an article in the American Rifleman listing loads for the then new to handloaders...

    308 165 Solid Base Seconds

When they originally came out, I loaded some for deer. Once loaded, you could not tell them from Partitions. So of course I mistakenly used them on elk a couple times. They worked just as well and mushroomed nicely.

    308 165 Solid Base Seconds

Ballistic Tip + bonding agent = Accubond

    Anyone know??

Thanks for the update Guy. I guess I failed to keep up. I see Nosler has seconds in solid base.

    Anyone know??

Not the Solid Base. Nosler added a plastic tip and they became the Ballistic Tip decades ago. Then they bonded the core to make the Accubond.

    Midway factory seconds

My friends and I have taken 25 moose and a number of deer with the 7mm 160 grain Accubond, mostly seconds. Never let us down.

    Midway factory seconds

I have measured and weighed Nosler seconds for correctness and consistency and did the same for firsts for comparison. In a recent article in Handloader, they did the same and shot both. Like me they found no difference.

    Midway factory seconds

Nosler does not knowingly release defective bullets. They have a reputation to maintain. As Kinley Water suggests, many are overruns for those sold to other companies who load their bullets. Many come with cannelures which are for that purpose. I have used the seconds (blemished bullets) for...

Ditto on the 5.5 lb. trigger. Took my first four elk and several deer with one.

SPS migrating to Nosler.com - did us vets lose our discount?

Shooter's Pro Shop has always been a part of Nosler. It is located on their Bend, Oregon campus and is an outlet for things like over-runs and blems. Many have cannelures for other companies that load their bullets. The only other difference I have seen in their blems is that they come in a bag...

Cabelas has some Nosler Bullets on sale today

While I have no experience with 25 caliber, with 7mm, .338, and .270, I have never experienced any difference between 1st quality and Pro shop seconds. Likewise, in a recent test by Handloader Magazine, they found the same thing with the two. An article on the test is on Handloader Magazine's...

    And yet again....

Check out Sportsman's Warehouse. They would charge you 80 bucks a pound for Alliant Reloader 23, if they had it. Imagine what it would cost if Bass Pro Shop had succeeded in taking them over.

    Cool search engine, Thanks!

    7mm 160 gr Partition discontinued?

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. While I have experienced great performance from the Accubond, the OP is asking for 160 grain 7mm Partiitions. Can anyone help him?

    7mm 160 gr Partition discontinued?

Over a number of years my friends and I have killed 25 moose with the 7mm 160 ;grain Accubond. It shoots flater than the Partition and seems to kill as well. Works fine on deer and elk as well. I have been able to pick them up from time to time lately from Shooters Pro Shop. I have found their...

Retumbo and Alliant in stock at Powder Valley...

Sportsman's Warehouse has just raised their price on Reloader 23 from $60 to $80 per pound, even though they don't yet have it in stock. Gouging!

    stuck case removal

Instead of buying special tools for removing stuck cases, all the tools needed may be found in most shops or garages, a drill, 1/4 inch course tap and bolt. a fender washer, and a 9/16 socket. Drill and tap the primer pocket. Thread the bolt with washer through the back of the socket into the...

    Supplies making a comeback ?

I hit two Sportman's Warehouses yesterday. Not a drop of powder, but every time I go in there I find a bag or two of 270 brass. No other rifle brass. Why just that one kind?
