How do YOU count the points on a rack?

Easterners would really hate how elk racks are counted in my area. We ignore the brow tines and only count one side. So a 5 X 5 bull is just a three point here.

    Hearing protection when hunting

I have never used hearing protection while hunting. I bought my first set of hearing aids yesterday. Enough said?

    Sling swivel help....

I had a front stud screw come loose on a McMillian stock. I just unscrewed it, mixed up some JB Weld epoxy and put it in the hole. Then I screwed the stud back in the hole making sure to properly align it. I never had a problem after that. JB Weld is slow set epoxy. It takes about 24 hours to...

Off to AK moose hunting tomorrow

Now that you are dialed in for 900 yards, you will probably shoot your moose at 30. Good luck.

    New Nosler Bullet? CTAB?

The combined technology bullets were designed by Winchester and Nosler and made by Nosler. They are modifications of Nosler designs and are very similar.

Tough Bullet Opinions - Large Game

My friends and I have killed over 25 moose with 160 grain Accubonds from our 7mm Rem Mags. Over half were between 300 and 400 yards as we hunt open logging. They have never failed us yet.

    case head separation

If the brush doesn't work, an appropriate tap will. A 7/16 fine works for most magnums. Remove the bolt and us a ratchet, six inch extension, and the appropriate socket to turn the tap into the case. Be gentle. Then just use a cleaning rod through the muzzle to tap out the case. As the brush is...

    Poor Cabelas customer service.

I am sorry that some of you have had trouble with the Lacey Cabelas. Just north of Sportco are two Sportsman's Warehouses with better selection than Cabelas and no membership fee like Sportco.

    Range Day - 7mm RM

This may have nothing to do with your groups, but i would lose the florescent orange targets. I know they are popular because they are bright, but the human eye has to fight to keep that color in focus. Ever notice that the target seems to pulsate? The best aiming device I have found is a two...

Those who know please tell me?

You remind me of my son who keeps trading guitars and amps. He spends a lot of money and comes out the worse each time. At least in this case all you will be out is the money. In my case I am perfectly happy with my 50 year old Rock Chucker. But darn that itch. It filled my safe with guns that...

    300 savage brass from .308Win?

You are going to have to do a lot of trimming before running a 308 case into a 300 Savage die. I suspect the resulting case capacity would be a hair less. Hornady cases are available from Midway USA and Midsouth Shooter's Supply. Good luck with the 300 Savage. I took my first four elk with one.

What do you call a BIG Moose.

It is unlawful to hunt the same day you fly in a private aircraft. That is to prevent scouting form the air, landing, and shooting game; considered an unfair advantage. I have killed some rather large moose for Southern BC, but WOW!

Where are all the Nosler Accubonds?

Keep checking SPS. I have done real well there by just having a little patience.

There is also Accurate 4350. All three 4350s are quite similar as is Reloader 17, though the data will vary a bit.

    Case Trimmer

Many years ago I ground the handle off my Lyman Universal trimmer and turned the shaft down to a quarter inch so that I could attach any variable speed drill motor. Now you don't have to. Lyman and others make models like that. It saves a lot of work. But for someone who already has an old hand...
