I would rule out excessive headspacing first. Perhaps you're pushing the shoulder too far and it's causing more force back into the firing pin. Following that I would look at seating depth. While you've seated to book COAL perhaps with that chamber and bullet combination it's quite jammed into...
I can't remember if it was the Hornady or Vortex podcast but the Federal/CCI rep said that any extra set of eyes inspects the BR/Match primers. You're paying for the additional QA over the "regular" primers. The actual materials are the same so it wouldn't change your load data.
Nice, good to know. If you have experience with it, how does it compare to Staball HD? I've had good results with my 7mm rem mag. They're both double based, temp stable with similar burn rates.
Good to know Gerry, thanks.
For hunting I don't like a large magazine where I place my hand for carrying. If only Tikka made a three round magazine for the PRC. I guess there are other after market options.
I'll probably start a thread when/if Tikka releases a threaded 300wsm stainless lite and...
The Chargemaster has 0.1 grain accuracy, which is the same as the Auto Charge Pro and others in this price range. Stepping up to the Matchmaster, it's .04 grain accuracy in Match Mode. I guess that's what you're paying for.
I'm new to hand loading and instead of going with the usual powder measure to start, I went straight for the Hornady Auto Charge Pro. It's been really good but I don't have anything else to compare it with.
Good to know Gerry, I'll keep a look out. I noticed Tikka updated their twist rates the last few years, as you've mentioned - the 30s are 1 in 10" and the 7s are 1 in 9" now. A threaded barrel isn't a must have for me but I like the option of putting on a brake for load development. I don't hunt...
Thank you for being so welcoming JD. Yes, lots of possible help from the guys here. I do have some questions queued that I'll post soon.
Apologies to HAWKEYESATX for taking this off topic with your 300 wsm concerns! :)
Thanks JD.
I'm a long time lurker and I thought I'd create an account now that I've recently taken up hand loading. It's cool that Guy Miner is here and I'm a fan from watching him on the UR Youtube channel. Cheers ;)
I'm in BC also and I've noticed retailers are stocking brass and various factory cartridge offerings these days. I was looking into the 300 wsm a few years ago and the story wasn't the same - hard to find brass for sure.
I'm thinking about getting a 300 wsm Tikka T3X in 2025 once their new...
