I love the 308 Win. I have 2. My Tikka .308 seems to shoot about anything extremely well. The Browning is more finicky. The Tikka has a 1 in 11 twist and the Browning a 1 in 12. Maybe that has a little to do with the difference. The Tikka has a 22.5" barrel and the Browning a 22" tube. The...
150 gr Sierra GK, 43.0 gr VihtaVouri N 140, Hornady Match brass, CCI No 200 LRP.
This load shows some promise if I bump it up or down a bit.

I cannot find Varget anywhere. Seems like it's a staple among great 308 loads. I have worked up a few loads using Vihta Vouri N 140. The first few groups have been promising. I think with a little tinkering I can come up with something acceptable with V N140. Thanks for all the input guys...
I've fooled with seating depth some. Also got some IMR 4064 and Vihta Vouri N140. Also picked up new Norma brass and Hornady SST 165gr. Shot a few 3/4" to 1" groups today. I've got a bit of options now. I just need to hit on the sweet spot.

I can get IMR 4064 tomorrow. Thanks for the input. The Tikkas are awesome. My brother is a die hard Rem 700 guy but he's now ordered a Tikka 308 Tactical. That's almost like a change in religion for him! LOL

I know these aren't bad groups but I think it can do much better. Or, maybe my Tikkas have me spoiled. When I have a good day, the Tikkas will tear a clover leaf hole. I hope I can change directions with this rifle and improve its performance.

I just purchased a Browning X Bolt Stainless Hunter in .308 Win. I topped it with a Leupold 4.5x14x40 VX-3 w/ 30mm tube and varmint reticle. I've attempted to work up a few loads for it after a 50 round break in. The only powder that I have for a 308 recipe is IMR 4320. I have Hornady Match...
260 or 7mm-08 with a semi-heavy stainless 26" barrel, Jewel trigger, trued 700 stainless action, HS Precision stock, Night Force Picatinney base and rings, and 30mm Night Force high magnification optic. I get excited thinking about it.

Anyone have a CDL SF? How's the quality and how easy was it to get it shooting tight groups? I love the looks and style of these stainless/ fluted heavier contoured barrels sitting in the dark walnut sporter stocks.

I've had great experiences with Boyd's stocks on Rem 700s and Savage bolt action slug guns. Install pillars and bed action and recoil lug and you're ready to go. Just remember to seal any wood you remove while inletting small areas to fit.

25-50 rounds per rifle but I keep the components to load many more if I need them. I do however have several thousand for my AR platforms on hand.
