    N165

Has any one tried n165 in a 260 rem with 140 class bullets or in 6mm Creedmoor? I’ve been wanting to try rl-26 in my 260, but it’s impossible to get right now. I can’t find a burn rate chart that lists 26, but seems like it’d be close to the same rate as n-165. Vihtavuori has some data for 155...

    Short throat??

That is the case with the 90 grain game changers I loaded for the same rifle. I loaded them at Sierra book OAL which is 2.770 and only had .125 bearing surface in the neck. But that bullet has very little bearing surface. The factory precision hunter load from Hornady is loaded at 2.790 OAL...

    Short throat??

Been out of town for a week. Ruger emailed me back and stated they’d like to have the rifle back for inspection. In the meantime, I ordered an OAL gauge and with the 103 eldx, I’m contacting the lands at an average OAL of 2.710. About .200 shorter than my .260 rem. Ruger said their turnaround...

    Short throat??

After a few forum searches, looks like lots of people have the same problem with the 6mm Creedmoor cartridge in Ruger Americans and RPR’s and aren’t getting much help from Ruger. A couple of them said they got another .050 of free bore by using tubs final finish kit. Don’t know how I feel about...

    Short throat??

Hey guys, I recently purchased a Ruger American Predator in 6mm Creedmoor for a long range coyote/truck gun. I loaded up some 103 eldx in Hornady brass at an OAL of 2.80”. After learning the hard way before, I checked the first round to see if it would chamber, it wouldn’t. I forced the bolt...

30 nosler on weatherby vanguard action

Well now based on what I've read, the .257 and 300 weatherby are 2 different action lengths with the .257 being a standard 30-06 length. So if that's correct, the 30 nosler would be a better choice. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks guys

30 nosler on weatherby vanguard action

Jim I do believe howa makes the vanguard receiver for weatherby. I think the safest route would be to rebarrel to 300 weatherby but im still leaning towards the 30 nosler. I think brass availability would be about the same unless the 30 nosler really takes off

30 nosler on weatherby vanguard action

Hey guys. I recently aquired a vanguard deluxe in .257 weatherby mag for a great price. I'm not crazy about the .257 family but couldn't turn it down for the price. I had thought about rebarrelling in to a 300 weatherby but with the 30 nosler claiming the same ballistics with less powder and...

    .260 and RL-17

You guys were spot on. Went to the range yesterday with my chrono. The rl-17 really started shining at about 41 grains. Got to 42 grains and shot 1/2 Moa at 200 at 2785 fps. Next load was 42.3 and had a little bit of sticky bolt lift with 1 out of 3 cases. So 42 grains is going to be my go to...

    .260 and RL-17

Thanks for the replies guys. Nice rifle Jim! I'm using the same stock. Model 7 action, 24" #3 bartlein 8 twist barrel, timney trigger. I started loading at 39 grains of rl-17 working up .3 grains to 42.5 gr. I based that on what I've read in other forums and alliant's website. But based off the...
